The first time I went to see Dr Thomas I really did not like the way she was pushing her own product line. It was as if I was there just for her to sell me her skin care products. She really didn't consult me on my skin issue other than giving me a two page list of what foods not to eat and telling me that her product line would clear my skin. I decided to try to go again and this time her office cancelled my appointment with no notice stating that I did not fully complete their on-line portal. I spoke with the office manager who was rude and didn't really know what happened - but also didn't do anything to help the issue. They called me the day before my appointment and asked me to complete the form - which I did. I informed the office manager that I completed the information, I took the day off work for the appointment, and I completed everything that I saw that needed to be filled out. I truly believe a good office manager would have done more to help the issue instead of just telling the patient to reschedule for a form that could literally be completed in less than 5 minutes. This was the worse customer service that I've encountered at a Dr office in a very long time. After I got off the phone with them, I looked at the patient portal and it was complete. I called them back in an attempt to speak with the Dr directly and they would not answer my calls. They seem unorganized, unprofessional and unaccommodating. I will not be patronizing this office anymore and I will not refer anyone to this office - period. I was hoping to speak with the Dr before leaving this review however the office would not take my calls and sent me to voicemail several times. This is absurd.
Can we say disliked! First when calling there was confusion about insurance, but clearly the staff didn’t know I had already investigated. Then arriving the staff seemed very cold and distant. Then finally meeting the doctor, I almost see why the staff acted in such a way. Dr. Lorna did not have very good bedside manners. As I was straying to show her my troubles spots she told me very directly, "move your hand so I can see, I am the doctor". I preferred not use a certain med, she told me to trust her, she has 14 + years in a plaque outside the door. Can you say rude?! Can you say arrogant?! Then with my daughter who has already been self conscious of her skin, the doctor told her she was a mess and that she should be glad she was there to see her cause she was a mess. Can you say rude?! Can you say not good bedside manners?! 🤦🏾♀️. We will not be returning. Then they can only see you for one thing at a time. Don’t ask about another cuz you’re just there for the thing you made the appointment for. 🤦🏾♀️. I’m so over her. Dr. Spurling...AWESOME!
Office staff is rude and condescending. They do not value you as a person let alone a patient. They placed me in a room and I waited an hour (total 2 hour wait time) without any communication. When I finally got feed up; told them I would like a refund, because you have to pay before being seen. The girl while sucking on candy and smacking her lips pointed me to the checkout desk, with an oh well attitude. Not, what's the problem, let me see, just...bye! The checkout clerk was concerned and asked what was wrong. When I asked to speak with the office manager, was told she was seeing patients...well is she an office manager or doctor? I felt DISRESPECTED and TARGETED. They don't offer late or weekend appointments, so I had to take time off work and make accommodations for my trainee to make this appointment. Very UNPROFESSIONAL. Save your time and peace of mind.
I have never been treated so rudely and inhumanely in all my 40 years. She literally left me in tears. After waiting 1 hour to be seen she dismissed me with an attitude after I told her I only bought 3 of the 6 medications that she prescribed. She stormed out of my room and I told her I had more questions and she said No you don't have anything else to say and slammed the door. Then her assistant came in who is very sweet to explain more and she yelled at her and pulled her out my room yelling about me not following directions. She should be ashamed of herself and needs to take a course on bedside manners and respect. I hope she seeks anger management as well. I have the best insurance in Michigan and had 4 issues that I was going to let her work on but not anymore!!
Dr. Thomas is the worst doctor I have ever seen. Let's start with the fact that the appointment was for my teenage daughter and they would not allow me in the room with her because it was supposedly too small to accommodate 4 ppl (me, daughter, doc, and assistant) and still social distance. I would not have had a problem with that had they told me that when I made the appt, which would have allowed me to make a decision before traveling to the office and taking my daughter out of school. If there was enough room to distance from my daughter they could distance from me. I only kept the appointment because at my suggestion, I was able to video call her during the exam. Also know they had already taken my daughter into the exam room and I was in the process of making my payment and showing insurance info when they told me I could not go back there with her. No apologies, these are Dr. Thomas rules so I can just cancel. Dr. Thomas' bedside manner was horrible. Knowing I had concerns about my daughter being examined w/o me being present, you would think she would have addressed that upon entry into the room. She didn't greet me nor my daughter, she just came in barking out orders. In fact, she never even asked me nor my daughter if we had any questions. As she was getting ready to leave the room, I asked her to wait because I had questions. Mind you , I only knew she prescribed meds because I heard her telling her assistant to put it in the chart. Me: What medications did you prescribe? Her: Would you even know what it was if I told you? It was just hydrocortisone and something else I can't remember the name. Even so, how disrespectful was that! Me: How do I determine whether I should use the hydrocortisone or the other medication? Her: I guess you have to go to medical school What?!? I thought I was in the twilight zone. I could not understand why she was being so rude and disrespectful. She eventually explained when to use each medication. I have never been treated so poorly by someone who I was giving my money to. I'm convinced she is at a point in her life where she thinks she can treat people disrespectfully and they are just supposed to shut up and take it. After being treated so poorly, I could not understand why she had average to good overall review rating. I looked at her reviews from Google and other websites. If you look more closely at her 5 star reviews, you will see that most of them are posted on the same day or within 1 day of each other. That leads me to believe they are fake reviews posted by her staff or someone else she told to post them. It is very unlikely that real patients would post 5 star reviews on the same day on multiple occasions.
First, Dr. Thomas is a nice lady to talk to, but I think you need more experience as a dermatology patient than I had prior to going to her. I know nothing about my skin. What type I have, etc. All I knew was that I had more zits than I have ever had, and I was having trouble getting it under control. I figured I'd go and find out about my skin, maybe discuss a care plan for anything else I needed done. But she can only do 1 thing per appointment, so what I wanted and what happened were not the same. (Probably because I said 'acne' was my concern) In any event, she came in and confirmed that I do have adult acne. She wrote up a list of prescriptions with use instructions and sent me on my way. No explanation for why each item was needed or anything. In total, I think I spent about $400 or so to get all of these items, but I still don't know what each one's purpose is. I am not sure which item is causing a reaction with my skin, but one of them is. I ended up switching doctors for the appointment about my reaction. Hopefully, I can get everything straightened out and be better able to understand my personal needs. :/
Disgusted. I usually refrain from posting my experiences with others but not today! Today was horrible and I have to be honest. I went to Dr. Thomas bc I was a patient of hers prior and had a great experience. 4 years later, I wanted to bring my 13 y.o. Who has acne. Well I also have a 1 year old and she just tagged along, no biggie. Right? Well shortly after arriving I was told that I could not take my baby who I was holding in the visit! (She wasn’t screaming, running, fussing, crying, hungry, stinky, or anything and I have proof) Which also meant I could not take my 13 y.o. In the visit bc I was holding the baby😒 No warning, no sign posted, no warning in the email sent prior and I can post it! I was livid to say the least. I came almost an hour away to be turned away. No warning, no accommodations, no apology, not a thing! I would tell you more about the visit but I can’t I didn’t get serviced. 🤷🏽♀️ I started to fill out the papers and reschedule but I was so upset, I had to leave. I will not be returning. This was so inconvenient, unprofessional, and for what? The doctor was very rude about it and didn’t care that I didn’t get the heads up! 😕 What a joke. Good luck with grandma Thomas and her house rules. I think it may be time for retirement for her🤷🏽♀️. ✅Doctor Heidelberg, here we come
