Forest Haven Sauna

Beautifully situated with convenient parking and, best of all, none of the crowds you find in larger saunas - here, you enjoy the experience on your own terms. The herbal tea from the owner's garden was a delightful touch, and the outdoor cold shower is an absolute must to complete the experience. We'll definitely be back!

We’ve been looking for a more traditional sauna in PDX and this place checks all the boxes! It’s conveniently located in the west hills. You get access to a private area that has a picnic table, outdoor shower, and 2 buildings: the sauna building with a warming room, and a small building you can use to change, that has a warm shower, portable toilet and a sink. The area is surrounded by trees and feels nice and secluded. The sauna is well built, it runs nice and hot! You can throw some water on the rocks and get it pretty steamy! The owner offers sauna birch whisks for purchase, that are fun to use. There are also aromatherapy oils and little woolen hats available. I think this is a great place for those who enjoy a private traditional sauna without too many bells and whistles. It’s a place to get warm during wet and cold winter months!

This was my first time doing a traditional Russian sauna. It was amazing!! The place was clean and I found the atmosphere to be homey and refreshing. Had great conversations and left feeling like I was cleansed and also made a new friend. I would recommend this to any one into this type of modality. I will absolutely be back, also the snacks and tea and cold shower was awesome! Thank you

This is a truly unique and refreshing sauna experience. The Highlights: Captain Sweat is an excellent guide who makes the experience fun and manageable. Be prepared for serious heat, but you have the flexibility to take as many breaks as needed for complimentary tea and snacks. The cold shower is a must-do—it feels incredibly invigorating after the session! Tip: Make sure to book for a guided time to get the full benefit!

We had an amazing time! The sauna was perfect — the heat felt even and comfortable. We tried the birch-branch steam session and absolutely loved it; it made the experience so much better. Such a cozy and peaceful place! On these chilly days, it was exactly what we needed.

I really appreciated the attention to detail – comfortable benches, fresh towels, and fragrant birch branches. The staff was friendly and caring, which made the visit even more enjoyable. After the steam room, I relaxed with a cup of herbal tea in a peaceful lounge area – pure harmony for body and soul. 💆‍♀️🌿 Highly recommend and will definitely come back!
