Bear Banya

Gorgeous, clean, and designed by a woman who knows what she’s doing and pays great attention to detail! 🧖🏻‍♀️ This is as close as Portland has now to the banya experience I so love in NYC. There’s a sauna AND a steam room AND a beautiful outdoor hot tub with a bunch of eucalyptus floating in it AND a cold plunge. (And unlike in so many other establishments, the steam room does not smell like mildew. 🙏🏼) The quality herbal teas and snacks are a very nice touch, as are the luxurious, cozy lounge areas with fire, couches, hanging chairs, and blankets. A couple of notes: The lockers don’t lock despite having codes on them, so just plan accordingly. And there are only two bathrooms each with a toilet + shower, so if you need either (besides the COLD shower) you may have to wait. These are minor considerations and do not detract from the experience meaningfully at all. You don’t have to pack towels, slippers, robes, nor even a sauna hat if you want one – all of that is provided. There is even a swimsuit spinner so you can get your suit as dry as possible before leaving. This is a real treasure to have developed in our city, and I’m delighted to have found it.

Obsessed with this place. We love going to spas and trying to different places. This is hands down one of the best if not the best we have been to. Great service, loved the private experience, loved all the amenities and cute additions. 100/10 I can’t wait to come back

This place is wonderful! Visiting Portland from Arizona we had such a relaxing morning at Bear Banya. First, everything was so clean. We were provided comfortable robes and towels and a private changing area. The outdoor tub is wood-fired, so you get an authentic thermal bath that’s quite hot and deep. The sauna was also hot, with eucalyptus-enfused water for the coals that makes a pleasant aroma (but not overpowering). After sauna time the cold shower and will bring you back to your senses. We were provided delicious fruits, fresh tea and snacks, we were very happy with our two-hour stay. Thank you!

Just got back from a couples expierience package I got for my friend and HOLY BANYA THAT WAS AMAZING. We had the whole place to ourselves, wood fired hot tub steam room cold plunge and sauna. There was a beautiful relaxing area with snacks and tea. Luda was amazing, the venik massage was intense and gratifying. Afterwords she wrapped us up in comfortable blankets and poured us tea, we were in tears because we were so happy sitting around the little porch fireplace. So reasonably priced, we’re doing this once a year now. Thank you Luda!!!

10/10 experience. If you’re looking for the best sauna, steam room, hot tub(wood fired) and hangout area in Portland, this is it. Bang for buck all day, thank you for letting us use this place!!! Will be back

Extremely clean, everyone was very nice. We came on a day where the masseuse was sick but the owner still offered to give us a massage personally. Walking into the spa area, you are greeted with a gorgeous salt wall. Infared room had little wooden bed areas so you could fully lay down with the provided beach towel. The back patio area is decorated nicely with snack trays, tea, and fruit infused water. They also had swinging chairs, lush blankets, jenga, and chess/checkers. The hot wood tub was perfect temperature. The cold plunge was right next to the tub so you could quickly jump in right after a hot soak. The owner is extremely accommodating, if the tub is too hot she will adjust it. This place is a must visit if you’re around the Portland area, a tucked away hidden gem!

My lady and I recently visited Bear Banya, and it was an absolutely amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and a serene atmosphere. The traditional Russian banya was invigorating, and the contrast between the heat and the cold plunge left me feeling completely refreshed. The staff member Luda was the sweetest most professional woman. She was attentive and ensured we were completely comfortable and relaxed throughout our stay. The attention to detail in the decor and overall ambiance creates an authentic and luxurious escape. Whether you’re looking to unwind, detox, or simply indulge in a bit of self-care, this spa is a must-visit. (I highly recommend trying the venik ritual if you wanna try something new.)
