I cannot recommend Dr. Ellstrom highly enough. I visited him for several cosmetic procedures, and the results are exactly what I envisioned: beautiful, precise, and incredibly natural. Beyond his surgical skill, Dr. Ellstrom’s bedside manner is impeccable. He handled my initial consultations with the utmost respect and made me feel completely comfortable discussing my body goals. He is clearly dedicated to patient satisfaction and is willing to go above and beyond to ensure you are happy with your results. For a surgeon in Newport Beach, his pricing is remarkably fair and transparent. If you are looking for a highly skilled surgeon who prioritizes care over ego, you would be lucky to have him.

Called as a former patient to get an appointment for potential melanoma. Couldn’t book for at least a month which I believe is unprofessional for such an urgent concern. Showed zero sympathy. Didn’t even mention the other doctors who required a referral until I asked multiple question and dug. THEN she said we have someone else but need a referral. Ok I can get a referral no problem. Still no availability for 1 month. Asked to get put on a wait list. Doubt I’d get a call. She did not seemed concerned at all.

I have been going here for about 4 years now. Dr. Lewallen is my main doctor, but my daughter and other family members have seen most of the other doctors as well. Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and caring. I have skin sensitivity, a lot of allergies, and Dr Lewallen knows most of them by name better than I do! Dr Lewallen has caught many skin cancer and precancerous spots on my mom, and the plastic surgeon is amazing with stitching her up afterwards, so her scars are minimal. I love the San Clemente office since it’s closer to home, but I would drive to Newport Beach office if needed. We are very thankful for this dermatology office!

I am incredibly grateful to be under the care of Newport Beach Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, especially Jennifer Mohler, PA and Dermatologist Assistant, Karen. After experiencing a challenging and painful journey with another practice—Hoag: Pure Dermatology and Cosmetic under Dr. Mehr—I finally found the professional, compassionate, and results-driven care I desperately needed. At Hoag, I was prescribed doxycycline along with several topical treatments that caused severe adverse reactions, irritation, and inflammation. Unfortunately, my concerns were dismissed, and the focus felt more like a sales pitch than a treatment plan. It was disheartening and, ultimately, damaging to both my skin and trust in dermatological care. Taking charge of my own health, I researched AviClear as a potential alternative. That’s when I found NBDPS. From the moment I met Jenn and Karen, I knew I was in the right hands. They took the time to listen to my story, explain every step of the treatment plan, and most importantly—never once tried to push products. Instead, they focused entirely on my healing and long-term results. I began my AviClear treatments in October 2024 and completed the third session by December. Jenn was transparent that this would not be an overnight solution and that results typically take 6 to 12 months. To support the process, she recommended microneedling, which I began in January 2025. I’m currently on my fourth session (out of six), and the results are encouraging—less inflammation, fewer cystic breakouts, and most importantly, no more painful lesions. For the first time in a long while, I feel hopeful about my skin. One of the best parts of my experience with NBDPS—something that truly sets them apart—is the consistency of care. Jenn and Karen have been with me at every single visit. Unlike my past experiences where I saw different practitioners each time and had to repeat my entire history over and over again, Jenn and Karen know my story, understand the details of my journey, and tailor each treatment accordingly. That kind of personalized, continuous care is rare and invaluable. It makes every appointment feel intentional and every result that much more meaningful. Jenn’s integrity and expertise stand out. She doesn’t push any in-house product lines or pressure you into unnecessary treatments. Instead, she lets her work speak for itself. Karen, too, is kind, reassuring, and transparent about the investment in your skin’s health. Yes, NBDPS may cost more, but as Karen wisely said, "It’s an investment in yourself." And based on my experience, I wholeheartedly agree—it’s worth every penny to avoid the harm that can result from impersonal, sales-driven dermatology practices. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and patient-centered team, look no further than NBDPS. Jenn and Karen are the perfect duo. Dr. McNeill was super thorough with my appointment and took her time to answered all of my questions with great detail. She is very kind, personable and a wealth of knowledge. Shout out to Kirin who is such a pleasure along with the front desk and all of the other staff at the Newport Beach office.

Awesome Office I went to this office after seeing a review. The reviews weren't wrong. Although I had wanted to see Dr McNeill she was booked for quite a while so I saw Krisitn Scord. She was so thorough. I was seeing her for acne and she made me feel like no question was off limits. She prescribed a medication and we needed to get a prior authorization which I know was a pain. They got the medication approved by my insurance and I started it 3 months ago. I also did an Acne Facial with Allee Ashlock (sp?), Between the medication and the facial my skin has totally cleared up. I am really grateful to this office. It's clean, the entire staff is friendly, scheduling is easy and obviously the results have been fantastic. My mom decided to go for Botox and some kind of filler. She looks so good! Swear to goodness her wrinkles in her forehead are smooth and she has some cheeks now. She couldn't be happier. Thanks Kristin and Allee and Staff at Newport Beach Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. I will refer everyone that needs a great Dermatologist!

DLDR: The best dermatology and aesthetics practice in OC. After trying numerous other practices in Orange County, I found Newport Beach Dermatology & Plastic Surgery a few years ago and have not looked back. For the last +four years I have exclusively seen PA Kristin Scord, and she is truly wonderful. I have a family history of skin cancer and I trust Kristin to conduct thorough skin checks and help keep me safe! I also routinely see Kristin for aesthetic dermatology and she is extremely knowledgeable about what is on the "market", listens to my skincare concerns and goals, and takes the time to explain what all of the options are, going through the pros and cons of each so that I can make informed decisions based on her medical advice. She is never pushy (nor were any of the other providers that I've seen here). I'm a slightly nervous patient and Kristin has gently walked me through the process when I've started a new treatment, such as Botox, facial lasers (IPL), and I just tried Sofwave a few weeks ago. I am very happy with the results and look forward to going to the dermatologist. I can't end this review without also complimenting staff. They are kind, competent, efficient, and always willing to help.
