Palmetto Smiles was terrific. I reached out less than 24hrs before my visit. They fit me in and identified my issue. They went to great lengths to ensure my comfort and smooth my anxiety about the visit. Dr. Campbell, Elizabeth and his entire team were the perfect amounts of professional and hospitable. I couldn’t be more thankful for the sense of urgency to receive me so quickly, with me being a brand new patient. I can confidently recommend them to anyone looking for a dental team the Charleston area.

We were explicitly told this office accepted our insurance. Based on that representation, we proceeded with treatment. When it came time to pay, we were charged $1,200 out of pocket for deep cleanings for both my husband and me. We were led to believe the high cost was simply because the procedures were "deep cleanings," and when we questioned why our insurance was not significantly reducing the balance, we were told that insurance companies "don’t always cover the full amount." That explanation was misleading. We later learned the office does not accept our insurance at all — which directly contradicts what we were told before treatment. In other words, we made a financial decision based on inaccurate information provided by their staff. When we confronted the office, the response was that the employee who gave us this information "no longer works here." That does not resolve the issue. Staff turnover does not absolve a business of responsibility for misinformation given to patients. We were told someone would follow up to address and correct the situation. No one ever did. No resolution. No accountability. This experience demonstrates a serious lack of transparency in billing practices. Patients deserve clear, honest communication about insurance and costs before agreeing to treatment — not after being charged. The only positive aspect of our visit was our dental hygienist, Sam, who was professional, kind, and excellent at her job. She is the sole reason this review is not zero stars.

We especially appreciate their non-toxic dental approach to support our natural lifestyle. They’re great with our 5 kids. And I have been pleased with their additional service of Invisalign. Can’t say enough good things!

I always have such a great experience at this dental office! The location is super convenient, and I was able to get an appointment that fit perfectly with my schedule. Check-in was quick and easy, and everyone at the front desk was so friendly and welcoming. The staff made me feel comfortable the whole time and explained everything clearly. Even the checkout process was simple ...no long waits or confusion. It’s nice to go somewhere that really values your time and treats you with care.

Best dentist in the Charleston area!! The staff is amazing and it's always a joy to go ( not something you can say about other dentists) I have lived in Daniel Island, Mt Pleasant, and Charleston but I always choose to keep going to Palmetto Smiles because they are the best and have YOUR best interests in mind!! Can't say enough good things about them. Choose the Best and you'll never need the rest!!

Dr Campbell has been my dentist for over 15 years. He and his staff are phenomenal, with proper professionalism and etiquette across the board from the time you enter the parking lot to the time you exit the doors after your dental services. Hands down the absolute best in Charleston and surrounding area!!!!!! Highly recommended
