good collections of used japan n us anime manga action figures games etc. Good selections but mostly quite overpriced actually for vintage used items sadly. Got amazing selections though Better the stores in del amo mall. Vast selections n collection. Especially the $1 outlet. Must visit.

This place is awesome! There's such an amazing supply of manga, collectibles, games, consoles, DVDs, bluejays, CDs, and even some vinyl. Every shelf is completely stuffed with interesting things to look at. I came specifically to see their CD selection and was pleasantly surprised to find nearly half an aisle full of CDs to look through. They have a ton of CDs on sale too! I picked some up for 1 dollar each which is a crazy good deal. I must have been in the store for at least an hour browsing and I never felt judged, rushed, or like a nuissance. The staff was extremely polite.

If you're familiar with BookOff, you might be used to the large stores in the malls. This one is a little different. It's cozy and more focused on certain genres rather than everything. There are plenty of options, still, even with the smaller scale. I highly recommend checking it out if you're a fan of physical media!

Have a huge variety of mangas. Also well organized and clean. Amazing place for manga readers and anime lover.

For my next review, I've decided to explore one of my (former) favorite used bookstore franchises: BookOff. After recently having gone to visit their newly-opened Monterrey Park location (and having been to their Costa Mesa and Garden Grove locations), I decided to go check out one of the few ones that still buys and sells used manga in Japanese. The store is big and neat, the employees are as helpful as can be, considering the circumstances (one of them helped me check for 4 different titles, to see if they had them in their used manga section), and everything went well. Parking is terrible, since the Plaza (Pacific Square) is so unkempt, and the parking is so chaotic, that it detracts from the experience. But BookOff is not at fault for that. It is also a bit of a drive for me, and the only other BookOff that still does sell manga in the Japanese language is the San Diego location. I don't know what kind of circumstances caused them to make this shift in policy, but it's their call. Ultimately, I ended up buying a Game Boy Color game at a competitive price (and yes, the battery works perfectly), and a used copy of the first volume of a manga series in Japanese that seemed almost like new. All in all, a great location marred by poor parking and a crowded Plaza with lots of potholes in its parking lot, but still well-stocked location.

This is my favorite store in LA. Besides the good deals you can find on movies and video games, this BookOff location carries a large, Japanese language section for manga, art books, and anime-related books. Kinokuniya stores around town may carry new items of this type, but this BookOff is the only place in the country that I've seen a USED Japanese manga section, especially at this size and so well priced. I've been able to collect the original Dragon Ball run for just a few dollars a volume, as well as stumble on art books I never would have been exposed to in the US. Honestly if you can't afford a trip to Japan, come here instead!

I was referred to BOOKOFF some years back by a friend. Used to go to the Costa Mesa and Westminster location. Living in LA, the Gardena store has become my go-to for selling books, movies, and toys. This specific store is more Japanese based. From the manga, movies, and anime figures compared to the BOOKOFF at the mall not far away. They dont take as many electronics so call ahead and / or do your homework before trying to sell something there. This review is sounding too seller based, but they still do have a great selection of books ext to buy from.
