Merle's Record Rack

Digging for CDs is kinda my thing, but the way they do prices here is just a headache. Almost nothing has a sticker on it, so you have to ask for a price on every single disc, and it really feels like they look you up and down before deciding what to charge. I asked about a few CDs, even one that was hanging up on the wall, and in the end I just walked out with nothing. I’d rather shop somewhere that just puts the price on the case and doesn’t make me guess.

Support independent record stores!!! I recently had my 4 track cassette recorder serviced at Merle's, and I could not be happier. They fixed the problem I was having and gave the whole thing a tune up. It sounds great, like it did when I bought it 20+ years ago. I would highly recommend them if you have equipment that needs servicing. Their prices are very reasonable and they worked extremely fast. I will definitely go back if I need any more repairs. Today was my first day visiting this place, since moving to CT, I've been dying to visit some record shops, a friend told me about this one and I must say that I loved it. 60 years in business and that's amazing! I spoke with the owner and let him know that I was originally from NY (Don't kill me 😂) and that NYC no longer has any record shops left at all! The minute I walked in, that wonderful smell of vinyl hits you, god how I wish that could be made into a cologne 😉. This place has records, turntables, old school equipment such as tape decks, amps, beautiful speakers and great CDs. Places like this are a gem, I grew up spinning the black circle, my grandfather and father had a love for it. There is no better sound than the popping on a record. This place is a keeper and I will make sure to become their number one customer... Let's make sure to keep places like this going strong! Support! And get your vinyl fix done here!

Merle's has a great selection, knowledgeable staff and much more than records. They also do repairs for turntables and audio equipment. Convenient hours and location. Prices can be a little steep and there aren't many parking spots.

Merle’s was recommended to me as a good place to buy used audio equipment, but I was really disappointed. I’m interested in this stuff, but not knowledgeable—I went in hoping to get some recommendations for a basic setup for playing my records. The staff didn’t really help with this. Very few items had prices, and I didn’t even really know what I was looking at. Maybe this place is great if you’re an expert, but steer clear otherwise.

I have been a Merle's customer for almost 30 years. Mike has been there for me through the many changes in the industry. The one thing that has been consistent is Mike's desire to provide music and joy for his many customers. Few businesses (if any) will go out of their way to satisfy a customer the way Mike does. I can see why he has such a big and loyal following. I always feel welcomed when I enter the store. Prices are fair and the staff is friendly and helpful. Let's hope Merle's is around for many more years.

Large selection of vinyl, cds, cassettes, vintage equipment and other music collectables. Staff is always friendly and willing to help. This place is a great record store for all music lovers.
