Marx Science and Social Science Library

I recently learnt that my father used to work at the Kline Biology Tower, a good four to five decades ago. He said it was nicknamed the thumb, because it’s aesthetically dissimilar to its surroundings and sticks out like a sore thumb. I wonder if they still call it that. I realise where I was immediately as I got to the location because boy did it stick out! I stopped by just for a photo to show my dad. It was relatively serene in the area in broad daylight, as it is a little off the main old Yale campus. I imagine the library there would be quite attractive to people who want to stay away from the crowds of the center of campus.

My favorite library at Yale. Everyone, from the library staff to the security guards, is so friendly and the space is nice with plenty of light (when there is no construction blocking the windows). Relaxed atmosphere, more so than at the other libraries.

CSSSI is a great place to study. The computers (both PC and Mac) have a variety of statistical software as well as basic Office Suite of productivity applications. There are quiet study spaces and group study rooms. They have presentation practice rooms with both videorecording and videoconferencing capability. During Reading Week they have a game night that is a great stress reliever.

Yale's most underrated library, with the best technology and the kindest librarians and security.

Super big monitor you can use to connect your laptops

My go to place to study.
