Customer Reviews
CVS has a rating of 2.9 out of 5 based on over 97 reviews on Google
Is this the worst CVS? Probably. Management does not appear to take pride in maintaining this store to the standard I would expect from a medical pharmacy. The windows are covered in grim and smudges, creating an unsightly blight on a prominent corner of New Haven. The ground at the entrance to the store is filthy, the doors look worn and scratched, and the vestibule is often filled with boxes as if they've run out of room to store things in the backroom. These boxes have become a permanent feature of the vestibule, meanwhile shelves in the store are often empty and there's a 50/50 chance they'll have what you were looking for in stock. The store appears understaffed and a line of 10+ customers forms quickly. There are no self-checkouts to help speed the process along, so a single customer needing assistance from the sole employee working the registers will hold up the line for a long time. The understaffed floor also means that pressing the "call" buttons for assistance with any one of the many, many products locked behind glass requires a great degree of patience and will often leave you waiting for 10+ minutes while the overworked employees attempt to deal with the line of customers. This is not the experience and quality that I have come to expect from shopping at CVS. It is extremely disappointing that the only downtown drugstore in New Haven is not treated with the same attention, cleanliness, and service that suburban stores provide. It's a real shame.
I arrived at store #11007 at approximately 3:20pm on 1/8/2026 and was able to wait in a very short line of 2 people to arrive at the register and meet cashier #2842226, Ashley. When I got to the register (#03) I communicated to Ashley that I was there to pick up a UPS package. I provided my ID and tracking number, neither of which was noted by Ashley, as she asked me what size the package was and my last name. I provided my last name but didn't know the size of the package. Ashley hurriedly looked through 3 to 4 packages and announced "Your package isn't here ma'am." I suggested she look at the tracking number, to which she responded "That's too long." She went back to the same 3 to 4 packages and said "Well, your package isn't here." In the meantime, the line was extending behind me, and Ashley called for a second cashier. I asked Ashley if there were another pairs of eyes who could look for the package, as she was not moving, and her poor attitude indicated she wasn't going to look again. She asked the second cashier to look as I moved aside in the line. The second cashier approached, asked for the last 4 digits of the tracking code, to which Ashley rudely replied "She can look it up!" The cashier asked me for the tracking code and my last name, I provided both, and she found the package in less than 1 minute. The second cashier noted the rude and poor behavior Ashley presented and said I could report this online. Ashley was incompetent, ineffective and rude, a combination that does not serve as good representation for any company.
What’s the point of going to a store where they lock this much up. I couldn’t buy a $3 ice cream because there wasn’t staff available to unlock, it’s just insulting. If they feel like being a store again I’d go back but it’s just a display case of locked products
The pharmacist at this location was an absolute angel. I went in to get a last min vaccination on a Friday evening because I wanted to try to keep any side effects confined to the weekend and avoid missing work. She was so kind, helpful and ran my complicated insurance, and gave the quickest and most painless shot. I just want to thank the pharmacist working on the evening of Jan 31 for her kindness!!
Go here if you wish to be treated as an inconvenience rather than a customer. I arrived at 7:55, soon before they closed at 8. I just wanted to get 2 things and be done. As soon as I walked in, the behind the desk staff started berating the security guard for letting me in. They then hopped on the intercom and began announcing "we’re closed" - note this is still before 8! As I frantically tried to find the 2 things I needed, they then began to follow and harass me that they were closed rather than offer to help me find what I needed - all before 8. I get wanting to close up and get out, but this was absurd. Cross this place off your list and go to one of the many other drugstores/bodegas/delis/small shops around that treat a person decently.
Starting to believe this location is a part of a social experiment there is no way that is a legitimate CVS store this is the only location that I’ve ever witnessed such lack of decorum and human decency. I completely understand that this location is smack in the center of all types of activity I’m sure they encounter many different types of individuals as well as scenarios on a daily basis with that being said it sounds like it would be ideal to employ those that have experience with such environments and that can still handle themselves with grace. I’m still leaving this review based on an experience that was had this evening I had coupons to use I just completed work I’m within a short walking distance and walked in the store at 7:45 PM I was in the Easter section deciding between two different colored bunnies upon making a selection I was walking up to the cashier I hear one of the individuals explain why are we still letting people into the store but very nasty for the very horrible tone and attitude And at this time the clock showed 7:53 PM with the store to close at 8 PM at that time at two individuals have walked into the store it looks like with a package and the young lady continue to exclaim almost to the security guard as to why the door wasn’t locked so she proceeded to go lock the door so I ultimately walked back to aisle to place my things back and I said I’m going bring my business elsewhere and then the associate agreed that it was the demeanor about in which their colleague was speaking there’s one thing to have an inner thought it’s another one to exclaim it at this time there were probably three people in the store all at the checkout there should be no reason why we’re turning people away at 7:53 PM that are at the checkout line if you don’t want to work the closing shift talk to your manager. I had just complete completed work and after having a pretty great day to walk in and have a less than positive interaction this is behavior I would expect at a Walmart not a CVS
CVS at 123 church st. in New Haven,Ct is always clean and fresh. With associates eager to assist you if help is needed. They always ask if you're an extra care care holder. They always ask if i want coupons and extra care amount applied to my purchase. I love shopping at CVS Pharmacy.
