We were looking for an affordable, local business to make our three-tier wedding cake and landed on Chestnut Hill Bakery. From first contact to cake tasting to wedding day, Glenda made the entire experience smooth and positive. She set aside several cupcakes and frostings for us to sample at the shop and was incredibly responsive and professional throughout. Despite a last-minute road closure near our venue, she ensured our cake was delivered on time. It was both beautiful and delicious which was exactly what we had hoped for. Every year for my birthday for about the past 7years, my husband or MIL call ahead to Chestnut Hill Bakery to order my birthday cake. My perfect birthday cake is the chocolate covered cream puffs My usual is an assortment of 3 large and 3 small, or 6 large. And they have the absolute best cream puffs (believe me I’ve tried sooooo many!) HOWEVER this year my MIL called 2 days before the desired pick up and whomever she spoke to was very rude and short with her as well as denying to make an advance order for these cream puffs even after she requested to pay for them up front to ensure they were paid for the items. But no "we don’t do that" along with "you have to come early to get what we have in the case"is all she rudely received in return. I’m not sure what has happened to why someone requesting an advance order and to pay in advance to be denied and spoken to rudely. Fast forward to this morning…. I go to get my birthday cream puffs with my husband…. The sweet girl at the register (sp) Asilynn was very accommodating however stated she only had enough custard to make 1 maybe 2 cream puffs. To say I was disappointed is putting it lightly. I only get them on a special occasion and yes my bday is a special occasion and that’s the ONLY thing I request. So in the end I did get a couple cream puffs but none to share with those who also celebrate with me (as it is my version of bday cake) I understand orders that are made and not picked up and the loss I’ve worked in the industry, but a patron pain in advance is a win you get paid for the item, even if it’s picked up or not, but the opportunity to resell. But overall, the rudeness was unnecessary and very poor customer service. Please do better we do love your bakery but things like this could change that.

This is a true mom and pop bakery. The store smells like an old school neighborhood donut shop. The prices are fair, almost cheap given current food price inflation. The bakery has glazed, long john’s, and filled donuts. You can also buy pies, cupcakes, cookies, and other pastries. Customers can order custom items. Service is friendly and quick. This is a small and unassuming bakery. It should be added to your Lynchburg pastry list if it isn’t already.

Called all around town, being told my order was impossible or too expensive till I was driving by after work and saw this place that I thought was an abandoned building all my life of living here. I went called and online and filled out the form now, knowing they were still in business. My request was taken and executed perfectly. We wanted a half carrot half German chocolate cake decorated in the corresponding icing flavors and colors you'd get if you were to make a whole of each cake traditionally. Everything was perfect. Even down to the writing being in a perfect shade of baby blue that worked with the color of the chocolate and white icing (not to dark nor light) and the drawings of the chef utensils were just what we wanted. We were so happy to have an amazing cake for our surprise party. And more importantly, something great to give as a kind gesture to someone who deserved it. 100/10 still gets pastries from there

We Ordered 6 different Cakes in Various shapes and sizes. They Were All Beautiful, Tasted Amazing and Absolutely Delicious!! We will definitely use This Bakery again! Thank you!!

This bakery has the most deliscious treats.Please take the time to stop in and try something if you havent already.They have amazing raspberry and Lemon bars.A personal favorite.
