So I’ve been trying to cancel my appointment for the past 4 hours and have been waiting on hold absolutely non stop the whole day… You guys need to fix your phone tree. Not only is it impossible to reach an actual human(like every other business on earth these days) but while waiting on hold it says," If you would like to leave a message press 1 and we’ll call you back." So I pressed it twice after waiting on hold 30 plus minutes and it just gives you a ton of information then literally hangs up on you. I feel like every time I need to reach someone at a business it’s like pulling teeth, no pun intended. Just make it simple for people to leave a message or just some way to relay information when we don’t have 4 hours to wait around on the phone. So sorry I can’t call to cancel…

I visited the OHSU School Of Dentistry as part of the clinical portion of a weekend-long Dental Continuing Education Course given at the Robertson Collaborative Life Sciences Building. The building is directly connected with the Skourtes Tower. Honestly this is one of the most spectacular academic buildings that I’ve ever been in. The dental students definitely have access to some of the greatest and most cutting edge equipment, design, and layout. And the views are out of this world. Offering panoramic views of Portland and its bridges. I parked in the Schnitzter Parking Lot which is free on the weekends and is about a five minute walk to the CLSB and so is a great option. Plus there is a public transit stop right in front.

I made an initial appointment for my daughter at the OHSU Dental School on Moody Avenue in Portland, Oregon. However, when we arrived, the appointment had not been recorded. We understand that these things can happen. As we were preparing to leave, Amy—the specialist at the front desk—stepped in to help resolve the issue. She immediately took action, contacting various departments and enlisting the support of two of her collegues, Kathy and Xianna. Together, they worked for over an hour trying to sort things out. Although they weren’t able to get my daughter in that day, it wasn’t for lack of effort. These professionals were incredibly dedicated, all while assisting about 15 other patients at the same time. Thanks to their persistence, they were able to schedule her for the following week. Their professionalism and exceptional customer service went above and beyond. I cannot thank them enough.

I was excited to go here. I overlooked that they made me wait 3 months to be seen. Everything was fine, my student was a junior. I got along with him fine. Until! The very end, I’m not a dentist but I can’t phantom what would require the amount of pictures he took. My mind was blown. He kept doing this like holding that uncomfortable thing in my mouth was a pleasure. He said at the end that someone would contact me for my next appointment. When I was sitting in the lobby I kept seeing everyone else having appointments made. I thought that was odd I wasn’t having the same process. I’ve never been to a medical facility where they call you later instead of when it’s over. It’s been over two weeks now. Not a single person has called me. Remember I had to wait three months to begin with. I really wanted to like this place, but this was beyond me. I will probably never go back.

I first went to OHSU Dental Clinic in 2019 for a dental implant. My insurance covered 50%, and I paid the rest out of pocket. The implant failed, and I was told I wouldn’t be charged again until the point in the process where it had failed. That seemed fair, but in reality, I’ve had to repeatedly remind them of this—because students change constantly, and there’s no consistent record of what was agreed upon. It’s now 2025, and I’ve seen at least five different students graduate while only getting appointments every few months. My implant still hasn’t even been placed. I’m strongly considering moving to a private dentist—despite the money I’ve already paid. I want to be clear: the students themselves have been kind and professional. The problem is the system. It’s incredibly slow, disorganized, and hard to navigate. Every phone call means a 30–40 minute hold. There’s no continuity or urgency. If you need something simple, it might be fine. But for something like an implant, think twice before going here.

Yaaaa I just waited on hold for 40 minutes, only for a recording to tell me to call back within normal business hours. Called at 345pm, message came on at 420pm, and stated the hours of operations are until 445pm…so unless I need to learn how to tell time again, this is just really frustrating.

They fixed my broken front teeth and they lasted until I was intubated at 55, I was 17 when they fixed them back in 1987 and they were almost perfectly done yet every dentist wants to ruin them, but I guess saving my life was a good reason to break them, but still they could have been a little more careful, my dentist tried, but he was to busy working on the patient with money and they ended up breaking a day later, I'm calling on Monday to see if I can come back to get them fixed again and a couple more teeth, my dentist didn't even do anything about a cavity I didn't know about, and never said anything after all the Xrays they have taken, and my first top right moler broke today while I was flossing, they only care about money, my insurance will pay these students who are doing their best, I can wait until then to get everything fixed, thank you to all the students who care about their work.
