Not sure what the customer service is like, but the coverage is crap. I have even tried to purchase an individual plan for dental only and everything is through Delta Dental. The amount that they cover is almost like having no insurance at all...and I have to pay a premium each month and then pay for most of my dental care out of pocket. Absolute garbage!

Despite some of the experiences others have shared, I’ve personally had good luck with Delta Dental of Oregon. Their plans are straightforward on the provider portal, and although they have recently made changes to their plan designs—which has caused some disruption to patient coverage—I’m still able to get the support I need from their representatives. From my experience, it often comes down to what you ask and how you ask it. Delta Dental has consistently been one of the easiest insurances to navigate, and they are by far the simplest to contact. Their fees remain consistent, unlike many other insurance companies that frequently change fee schedules through third-party networks, making it difficult to estimate patient portions without calling for every single visit. With Delta Dental, our estimates are accurate about 99% of the time, which makes a huge difference in patient communication and scheduling. While I have noticed an increase in downgrades compared to previous years, overall they remain more predictable and straightforward than most carriers. For a dental office trying to provide accurate estimates and clear communication, that reliability really matters.

My dentist office recommended that I receive periodontal maintenance every 4 months instead of the usual 6 months due to some pockets with my gums. Delta Dental covers 2 cleanings per year that have to be at least 6 months to the day apart to be covered. This 6 month rule carries over from the previous plan year unlike other procedures. My dentists plan for me is intended to be preventative from needing a more costly fix for my gums but Delta Dental will not cover my maintenance. It seems that there "rules" are formulated to avoid coverage for their patients.

I filed a orthtondial claim back in November and have been waiting months for a reimbursement. Every time I call, or my orthodontist calls, we are told there is a delay, and/or they've had an influx of claims come into their office. This is absolutely ridiculous, especially since I am paying my orthodontist monthly and have yet to receive my payment. You can't treat people this way. Something has to be done with Delta Dental. Seriously.

Not a good experience. Was previously with Delta dental of California through employer.... they were astounded at hoops that Delta dental of Oregon was making us go through to confirm our previous coverage to waive the wait period. This feels like a monopoly... not many choices in Oregon. Might be better off just paying out of pocket vs getting coverage.

If Delta Dental of Washington could get people to pay for coverage without covering necessary services, they would. Despite the cozy images projected on the screen, it's all about profit-making. Before signing up with this company, find out what they actually cover vs. what they don't. And find out how often they cover even a paltry portion of medically necessary procedures, such as crowns. Companies like Delta Dental are the reason we need a single payer health care system in the United States. Note: This review is in relation to Delta Dental of Washington, because there is no obvious place to submit reviews of Dental Delta of Washington on their website.

After a series of calls, I was able to get fully enrolled. A paperwork error on my part delayed the process (they actually managed to accept that my wife might have been born in March of 2052 and were reluctant to authorize insuring her). With some helpful support staff and praying of notes, the problem was resolved.
