Poor (initial) experience from top to bottom. If you are looking for a common male-style haircut, go somewhere else - you'll get a better haircut for less money. This is probably the worst haircut I've ever gotten (see photos). I asked for essentially a crew cut with a skin fade on the sides and back. The stylist did not know what a skin fade was. Later, she used a #3 or 4 guarded clipper on the back of my neck, but then proceeded to use a thinning shears on that same (short - 3/8") area on my neck - I've never had anyone do that before, and it makes no sense. She also used the thinning shears as the main form of hand trimming all over my head - if I wanted to look like I was losing all of my hair, I would have asked for that. In the end, she left a gouge from the shorter guard on one side of my head, didn't blend in the temple or my facial hair on the other side, didn't clean up around my ears, and left uneven lengths all over my head, not to mention thinning everything out far too much. I'd be embarrassed to go anywhere with this haircut because it's that bad and that obvious. I'll leave the stylist's name out so she has a chance to train and improve without complaints following her around. I place the blame for this on Simonson's management, anyways - this stylist clearly does not have the experience (at least with men's hair) to be let loose on the public to give haircuts, and that should have been readily apparent to anyone training or evaluating her. All of this took about 1 hour and 20 minutes for a cut that has averaged 20-25 minutes the previous hundred times I have gotten this same haircut at lots of other places. Fast-forward to the attempted resolution - I wanted to avoid making my stylist uncomfortable, so I called to discreetly speak with the manager from the parking lot immediately after my appointment. No one picked up the phone. I called several more times - same thing. I walked back in the store and called the desk while watching the receptionist - who was not with anyone else - ignore my phone call. I finally had to walk up and ask her to pick up the phone while I was calling, defeating the purpose of subtlety. When the receptionist finally started talking to me, she told me the manager declined to speak with me because she was training an associate at the moment. She had to be asked several more times before she could spare a single minute so I could show her the haircut mistakes for their documentation before I left. I've at least been rescheduled with a Level 4 stylist - who start at $75-$90 - to get the haircut fixed. Even if they do a great job, however (edit - she did, so increase to 2 stars), needing a top-skilled stylist to accomplish a basic men's cut at 2-3x the cost of other competent businesses, along with the poor desk communication and issue management, should tell you to spend your money and time elsewhere.
Not a great experience overall. Stylist was nice and front desk staff was friendly. So, my criticism isn’t in regards to that at all. It is in regards to quality for the price. I received a cut, color, and an added "gloss" treatment that was recommended by my stylist. It was an added $85 dollars. Do NOT get this treatment. It added nothing more than what I normally expect from a high-end salon and really felt like I had been "sold" in the end. There was constant pushing of product through the whole appointment. The final color ended up really red compared to a honey brown. Which was not what I had hoped for. The stylist did not style the hair at the end of the treatment. Which is included with other high-end salons. No wiping of the face after color treatment and really rushed me out of my seat at the end. I have walked away from hair appointments feeling amazing and that is what I expect when I pay over $300. This is NOT how I walked out of this salon.
My 5 year old daughter decided to be her own stylist today as she wanted to have short hair! I called Simonson's immediately and got in with Alexis (Alex). She was so fun, kind, attentive, and ensured that her hair looked natural. My daughter LOVES her short hair!!! Thank you, Alex!!!!
Let me say, i have never had my hair colored in a salon before and I was absolutely terrified and riddled with anxiety. The idea of letting someone touch my precious hair, my life blood, my only piece of confidence and something I worked sooooo hard to get long, healthy and beautiful.. it was so frightening. Ashley listened to my every word, desire and gave me great advice when I was unsure of things.she explained every step in such great detail and ultimately that's what let me trust the process. By the end, I was blown away. She probably thought I hated it because I was speechless 🤣 I didn't know who the woman with GORGEOUS hair was in the mirror. She is beyond amazing and I couldn't have gotten a more perfect person or perfect hair style 😍 Beyond that, the salon was beautiful, all the staff were so kind and friendly and I watched all of them with their new and regular clients and everyone had a smile, laughing and completely happy with their service. I would recommend this salon, ashley and likely any other stylist there as they all produced incredible work during my 3hours there.
I come and see Hattie for all of my hair needs. She always does a great job, and gives me great product recommendations. She even gave my boyfriend the best haircut of his life. She asks detailed questions to make sure I get what I want and Is always willing to keep the conversation going with me. Always so happy to see her and I will always come back to her!
My husband wanted a fade style haircut and I convinced him to go to Simonsons instead of a lower end salon since I’ve always had a good experience. He came home with easily the worst haircut he’s ever had, wasn’t shown the back of his head with a mirror and my message was left read with no response. Thank god for hats. We will both be looking for a new salon. Edited to add that a few days after this post they reached out and issued a refund.
The staff is so kind and welcoming. You get offered a variety of beverages after you check in. I was lucky to have both Jamie and Hattie as my stylists. Love them both. Definitely found my forever salon. Only disappointment is not having to have found this salon sooner.
