Prospect Heights Eastern BK Spa

I have been a patron of Prospect Heights Eastern BK Spa for years, usually getting an hourlong massage every few months. Their services have been simple and sufficient for my basic needs. However, my most recent experience was horrible, and I will not be returning. I went for a 30 minute table massage. The massage itself was fine (far from the best I have received, but again, simple and sufficient). But, my masseuse was coughing and sniffling nonstop during the session. She had no mask on, no gloves, and was wiping her nose with her hands while she massaged me. About halfway through, when it was clear that this was not intermittent, I stopped her and asked her if she was OK, and if she needed a break. She apologized, but said that she was fine. She continued loudly coughing and sniffling throughout the rest of the session. It was the most uncomfortable and least relaxing massage I have ever received because of her clear and present illness in the very small, confined space. I spent the whole time worrying that I would get sick because of this, and then pass the sickness to my family who I was visiting for the holidays the next day. What was intended as a moment for relaxation ended up being tense and anxiety riddling, as well as an obvious health hazard. Although I was upset, I wanted to proceed kindly. When I paid, before leaving a tip, I tried to explain to the masseuse and the receptionist how unprofessional and dangerous this experience was. I still intended to tip, but I needed to provide this feedback first. They refused to listen to me. I spoke to the masseuse, the receptionist, and two different people on the phone, all of whom kept demanding that I provide a tip, and did not care about the health hazard that ruined my experience. They were incredibly aggressive and rude. I will not be returning here. While the prices are fair, this experience revealed a complete lack of care for the health of their patrons and their staff. I can only imagine the other hidden health hazards. It also revealed remarkable unprofessionalism and a disdain for customers (even those they have multiple years of loyalty from). Get your massage elsewhere.

Excellent massage and value for price. However, I have persistent pain at one of the sites of dry cupping (72 hours out) and I believe the practitioner needs some redirection from a physician who performs cupping (such as myself). The dry cupping was done far too intensely to the point that it was painful and I couldn’t breathe comfortably (making it difficult to speak also since you are face down when receiving cupping). Practitioners should always seek feedback from the patient during the procedure; they shouldn’t wait for them to say something. After the practitioner not asking for feedback and leaving the room, I had to ask for the cups to be removed after about 7-8 minutes cue to the discomfort. I now have persisting soreness at the intervertebral space in my lumbar spine which was not an area that I had pain when I came in for treatment. I hope that this pain will not persist but if it does then I would have to change my rating to 1 star. Overall I had a very good experience with the massage but I believe with some education the practitioners can safely perform dry cupping as well. Until then, I would not recommend cupping at this spa.

Absolutely amazing massage experience! The environment is clean and tidy, with soft lighting and relaxing music that makes you feel calm as soon as you walk in. The therapist is highly professional, with just the right amount of pressure and great technique, targeting all the sore spots perfectly. The whole session was incredibly relaxing, and I felt so much lighter afterward. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming — overall, a very thoughtful and pleasant experience. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

hello to everyone, today 01/18/24 is Sunday my day off, I got my full body massage 60 min, scheduled with appointment at 12:30 pm, I had pain on my neck and shoulders since 2 days, so I decided to do massage in Prospect Spa, in front desk very kind men, employees very polite, the massage is amazing, especially she focused on my pain area, price reasonable, atmosphere is with low meditation music to feel more relax, I really enjoyed fully, I will come again and again definitely & I'm recommending to everyone to try, Thank you prospect spa and employees

I completely agree with the previous review. When I arrived, they asked me to go to a different location two blocks away. The place wasn’t very clean, and the masseuses were talking throughout the entire hour-long massage behind the thin curtains that separated us. Overall, the atmosphere was not relaxing at all. However the massage itself was great. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning for a full-body massage here, as I don’t want to spend another 60 minutes listening to masseuses chatting in my ear. A foot massage might work better at this place.

I’ve been going for a few years on my birthday and I’ve left feeling healed and rejuvenated every time. An hour message gets out all the tension and knots while your masseuse uses hot stones and amazing techniques. I appreciated the calming music, great lotion, and the respect of boundaries/using the cloth to cover you considering you’re undressed on the table. Coco is amazing. Will be revisiting.

Great massage at a price you can’t beat. I was impressed by how well they were able to be get the knots out of my back. Very thorough and relaxing. Also was able to get a same day appointment!
