Customer Reviews
Samwoojung has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on over 448 reviews on Google
The food has actually improved since they first opened. Portions are on the smaller side but we ordered 600g of bulgogi, kimchi fried rice, dumplings, and a dessert, which felt like a good amount for two ppl. I wish they offered a wider dessert selection. The bulgogi is very traditional Korean style comforting, not overly sweet or salty. It’s a nice spot to satisfy a bulgogi craving
Side dishes are nice and seafood pancake is very good but Bulgogi is too sweet. However, i appreciate their kind service and free new dessert sample.
I had a fantastic experience at Sam Woo Jung. The Seoul Bulgogi was absolutely delicious — perfectly seasoned, tender, and incredibly flavorful. The portion size was also very generous, making it both satisfying and great value. What really stood out was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming without being intrusive. Everything came out promptly, and we felt well taken care of throughout the meal. The atmosphere deserves special mention as well. The restaurant has a warm, comfortable, and classy vibe that makes it ideal for a relaxed dinner, whether you’re dining with family, friends, or guests from out of town. Overall, Sam Woo Jung delivers on food quality, portion size, service, and ambiance. If you’re looking for excellent Korean food in Koreatown, this place is a must-visit. I would absolutely come back again.
very solid food, flavors that hit right. good banchan, including, very generously, a piece of fish! 🙂 staff were v nice. offered to give me rice tea as a to-go customer when I only asked for water lots of indoor space and stoves at tables to keep food warm. good for groups as many orders are meant to be shared. can get very busy during rush hours so rez recommended
I gorged myself on raw marinated crab here- probably a little too much because it was so good! My other favorites were the seafood pancake, sweet corn dessert, and white grape soju. Great place to go if you're booking for a large party! We were 25.
I've been meaning to come by for ages! Recently stopped by with a group of 3 for a weekend dinner, we had reservations and it was definitely packed when we got there around 7pm. We had a table on the second floor, which was fortunately a bit smaller/quieter. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share: - "Seoul-style" bulgogi: this was the one cooked in the broth, and since we had a bunch of other dishes too, we opted for the 400g size. I was a bit worried it wouldn't be enough at first, but it ended up being the perfect amount. The meat was very tender and flavourful, and I liked how the slightly-sweet broth added some depth to the naturally savoury taste of the bulgogi. Other additions like the rice cakes and the eggs were nice, although I didn't understand why we got specific spoons to eat the eggs with. - kkakdugi fried rice: very yummy, the kimchi flavour was excellent without being too overpowering. The various veggies (esp the titular kkakdugi radish) were excellent. I'd definitely recommend this! - cold kimchi noodles: The noodles were a cold, refreshing complement to the richer flavours of the bulgogi, a perfect pairing. They were a bit too soft for my taste, but YMMV. Portion size not the biggest but enough to share. - bossam: delicious! really tender, each piece just melted in my mouth. The kimchi was fairly average, but I liked the (housemade, apparently) ssamjang that also came with it. Portion size also felt small for the price but not too crazy. Other things of note: The banchan side dishes weren't amazing (the fish in particular was really dry and hard to chew). I liked the barley tea! Overall not bad, and price point (while high... ish?) was def not unreasonable, esp nowadays in NYC ;-; Would be down to come again!
cozy delish Korean food with reasonably price tag. The bulgogi is on the sweeter side but the potato glass noodle is delicious This is closer to Penn station so further away from heart of Ktown. Recommend a reservation as it can get quite busy. The seating feels a bit crowded and tables are too close to each other
