Joyeux Mardi Gras! Purposely came here on this day to have some New Orleans style food with a unique, Asian twist to it (my attempt at paralleling it with the Lunar New Year which is also today). The place itself looks small but is slightly larger than it feels for you can get decent enough seating space for about 12 people and the restaurant itself was half filled when I came in. Service was definitely spot on and attentive, props to the one waiter and the cooking crew in the back. I did say the place itself was relatively small so the kitchen can easily be seen within a distance. Didn't have to wait long for my Shrimp Po'Boy and Gumbo along with Root Beer to come up. The Po'Boy sandwich was played well along with 2 toothpick flags of the KJUN logo on each side and the Gumbo was so fresh, you can still see the steam rise slowly from it. The dish itself was as delectable as it was palatable. Po'Boys hit so good, the assortment of different Korean garnishes inside the sandwich give it an intriguing taste added to it. The Gumbo was also so hearty and a delight to eat. Root Beer, was standard fare but it was something I could find in a supermarket so it was something to wash down my food. I enjoyed my time here, granted I can't do it often because this is one of the more pricey end restaurants but I would definitely revisit soon enough.
Marvelous mashup of Korean and Cajun flavors here. This is fusion done well, with obvious love and respect to both cultures. I dined at the new location and was glad to see the larger capacity it afforded the restaurant. The food was delicious, the bathroom was clean, and the staff were friendly. I would absolutely come here again; this would be a great unique spot to bring visitors to NYC!
We did the family style prepaid meal and it was the greatest value out of a meal I’ve ever gotten in NYC or perhaps anywhere ever! Every dish we had was so well executed and tasted delicious. Especially at this price point, this has to be one of the best meals you can get in the city. Staff were so welcoming, kind, and thoughtful throughout the entire meal. Very unique experience as well as we haven’t seen korean-cajun food anywhere else. 10/10 recommend and it’s byob! Doesn’t get better than this for a meal out with family or friends!
we did prix fix and my friends really liked this meal, but I highly doubt that I personally would want to come here again. the ambience and service is really good. the dishes are interesting and tasty but it’s been a couple weeks and the only thing I remember are the potato chips. interesting concept to try once bc you might really like it (my friends did just not me 🥲)
KJUN was special. A blend on Cajun and Korean, two of the most fantastic flavors in the world. I dined solo and still wanted to try as much as I could. I ordered the fried chicken with the side of daikon and potato salad & okra kimchi. The potato salad was fantastic as I believe they stir in pickled daikon with it. Okra kimchi was delicious on its own and I could not have enough of it. The japchae boudin balls were also good and it was served with an anchovy aioli. The fried chicken was tasty. Juicy and flavorful. I wasn’t into the batter as much but it was still good. I would definitely go back to try more of their offerings.
Came here on a Wednesday night and highly recommend a reservation because it was booked! People know this place is the place to go for amazing fried chicken and warm comfort food. The fried chicken was perfectly crispy and the go honey was such a good sauce pairing. The kimchi okra is tangy and not spicy. The gumbo was such a star dish. Comfort food and warming on such a cold day. Definitely hit the spot. We met David who was incredibly kind, attentive, and honestly a huge reason why we would go back. Highly recommend and definitely will be back soon!
INCREDIBLE food - everything was so thoughtfully made and delicious. Fusion food, especially with fried elements, has a tendency to be greasy but each of these dishes along with the perfectly paired kimchi dishes (the green tomato is insane and I’ve got to try the okra next time) balances so well and the meal doesn’t feel heavy. Amazing service - thank you David. Banging playlist.
