We went to the Pelican Club with friends and had an excellent dinner. They offer three- or four-course menus with a great variety of appetizers, mains, and desserts, and everything we tried was delicious. I started with a Caesar salad and had the Gulf fish topped with crabmeat and hollandaise, served with green beans and fried potatoes — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My son-in-law ordered the crispy flounder and loved it, and his scallops over artichoke leaves were beautifully presented and very tasty. We shared several desserts around the table, and every one was amazing. The pricing was fair, and the overall experience was well worth it. We’ll definitely be back.
This may not have been the best meal I ever ate in New Orleans....but it is in the top 2! Everything about this was excellent from top to bottom, from the time we walked in until we left. We started with appetizers, a crisp Caesar Salad, a tangy beet salad and a Escargot En Croute. Both salads were full of flavor and dressed perfectly. The escargot was a new experience and one that we will try again. For our entrees, one of us had the Cioppino, which was incredible, loaded with flavor, and a variety of different seafood. The other two had the Paneed Gulf Fish with Crab Meat and a Jalapeno Hollandaise. One of those two people is not a fan of hollandaise, but loved this variety. The fish was cooked perfectly, the crab light and flakey. The sauce creamy and the veggies crisp. Absolutely delectable. For dessert, we had the Creme Brule, Coconut Pie and Bourbon Pecan Pie. The Pecan Pie was very good. The Cream Brulle was, in my sons opinion, perfect. But the absolute mastery was the Coconut Pie. Unquestionably the best I ever have had, including, as sacrilegious as this may sound, my grandmothers. It was a bit loud, but I think that may have been more the 6 businessmen who were at the table next to our, more than the normal. Yes, it was an expensive meal, but every bite was an experience well worth it. We will be back, sooner rather than later.
It was a treat to celebrate our anniversary here. The escargot was SUBLIME. They were able to accommodate my celiac disease by serving it without puff pastries, and as wonderful as I can imagine those gluten puffs would be, the escargot did not need them. We also enjoyed the scallops and artichokes, short ribs, and red snapper (with a delightful spicy kick!). It was wonderful to be able to enjoy some fantastic food despite my restrictions. Our server was new and he did struggle with the wine a bit. On the third spill while pouring/refilling it felt a little untrained. We didn’t buy a really expensive bottle of wine, but if we had, I might have been upset. So that area could use a little improvement but the food was phenomenal.
Service was good, fish was tasty but I would have preferred it without the deep fried coating around it; the short rib with potato was average, (I was told), and the creme brulee was decent.
Great food, original cocktails and classy atmosphere, you can choose a la carte or a several course dinner at a fixed price. We had a lovely dinner at Pelican's. Thank you for an excellent evening!
Ate here first trip to New Orleans. The service was fantastic our server Larissa was super helpful with any questions we had. We will definitely be returning here.
Absolutely loved dining here! Some of the best food we had in NOLA. Great service and location. Sitting outside was wonderful.
