I have had the chance to travel across the United States and Canada with Grand Master Gathings. Lots of adventures fun and 1st place trophies. From training in Detroit to hrs in a car you will enjoy your journey to black belt at this school. Parents martial arts is not just for kids it is the rare activity where parents can train with their kids. Not something you can say about soccer or hockey. Give this school a try you will be glad you did!

I started out with a 4 week trial when I saw the location on Gratiot in June and have been there ever since! This is a great place for children to learn and grow. The staff is great with kids and they are all very knowledgeable. I feel like I’ve learned a lot about martial arts myself, previously not knowing much about it. I have not a single bad thing to say about my experiences or encounters so far but we are now members of this family for life!

Sensei Gathings is one of the best in the business!!! Whether it’s karate, Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, MMA, etc. Mr. Gathings is a combat sports SAVANT👍🏽 I would highly recommend anyone in the area to go and try a class. He knows how to make kids have fun while also help building their character and well being. While also giving the adults the push they need and welcoming them into a structured environment. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Our family has grown to love this dojo! Very patient, professional instructors! We are going for the black belt with these awesome people at this academy! The support and acknowledgements that they give to my boys who all range in age, are nothing short of amazing. The affirmations and praise that is individually felt by my boys they really feel seen here! The whole staff is just awesome.

My first encounter with the school students was incredible. I met them in England and they were so knowledgeable. The amount of kindness and knowledge displayed really made an impression on my children and myself. I highly recommend them for your martial arts training.

The Academy of Soo Do Thai is more than a martial arts school. It is a training ground for life anda forever family. The skills my sons and I have learned continue to support us to this day. I started training at the academy during my divorce. I lost over 100lbs of weight including mental and physical and found an immense amount of self-esteem. I went on to earn my black belt at the age of 44. My oldest son earned his black belt as well. My younger two sons earned their advanced belts. The academy saw and supported us through many hard trials. I am forever grateful!
