Went today for an Uptini and left in tears. I asked for one of the styles pictured in the book and got something entirely different. When I said it was different, the stylist got angry and told me I asked for messy and she gave me messy. My hair looked NOTHING like the picture. I asked her to fix it. It still looked nothing like the picture. I had another appt and had to go, but she was angry I didn’t like it and slammed the mirror and brush down on the counter. I had asked for a treatment with my wash and she said she didn’t want my hair to be too dry so she didn’t want to wash it. My service was supposed to be an hours and fifteen min. She was running 15 minutes late- my appt was at 12 and she started at 12:15. Fifteen minutes later the person at the front desk put another customer card on the counter in front of my stylist for a service to start at 12:45. My stylist seemed to rush and it was terrible. The style I asked for was a loose, kinda messy, beachy updo. I got tight twists, a tight bun, and no movement. The entire experience was intense and weird. The salon itself was dusty and dirty, The manager apologized and offered to fix my hair, but I didn’t have time.

Had high hopes but unfortunately it was just ok. Staff was sweet albeit expressing their feelings about being at work again (ie not pleased)… but what was so disappointing was 1) how unclean it felt there (ie hair in the sinks without being cleaned before the next wash, etc) and 2) showing a photo of a pretty simple French braid and leaving with something completely different and 3) my stylist was 100% high - walked in from lunch and past me reeking of weed and acted lit the whole time. It was fine. It wasn’t the worst. But. It didn’t wow me and I definitely won’t be back to this location.

I was in DC for a wedding this past weekend and originally had booked my appointment at the Penn Quarter drybar location but they canceled on me an hour before my appointment! Thankfully I called the Georgetown Dry Bar and they were able to squeeze me in! Not only that but I had one of the best blowouts ive EVER had with Nakia!! She SLAYED, and I am saying this as someone who gets their hair done on a pretty regular basis! My hair is still smooth and slightly curled at the bottom 3 days later - Highly Recommend!!

I have a monthly membership and I’ve given them a lot of chances. Recently I went the stylist was 40 minutes late to my appointment because she got arrested. The next time I went, there was a man doing my hair and he hit my head, probably five times with a blow dryer and gave me the worst blowout of my life of my life. I was scared to say anything because he kept hurting me. This last time I went, she didn’t even do a good blow dry it was straight and frizzy The brush has so much hair on it from other people, and they do not soak them to clean them. Today, I paid extra for the massage. The massage was six minutes long. I timed it. The stylist was also on FaceTime with her family while doing my hair and then put me in the camera And I had to act really nice about it because I’m not gonna be rude to somebody’s face. She then asked me if I can pay her a tip any other way but in the system because she doesn’t want pay taxes on it. This place needs to be shut down or under new management because it’s awful. It’s unsanitary it smells disgusting where you get your hair washed, and the people are really, really inappropriate and indecent. I’m pretty sure the man who kept hitting my head with a blow dryer was the manager. Every single time it’s a subpar blowout and that should be my main complaint, but it can’t be because the place is so awful. I wouldn’t even consider it a proper blowout but a payment for a wash and style you do not have a choice about. Update: I called and the woman who did my hair was the assistant manager. They confirmed that they did not use barbacide before brushing my hair and no one did today. They do not have the health departments information for the public to see it’s kept on the back. This place needs to be shut down I went back to get photos of their licenses and they do not have any in the shop.

I’ll definitely be back. I love how the stylist did my hair and I’m amazed how they are able to finish in time and get the next guest in

Updated review: Avoid this location! I made an appointment for 4 people to get our hair done for our friend’s wedding a month before the date. The day before our appointment they sent a confirmation email as well. The day comes and we go there 30 min earlier than our appointment time so we can have enough time to get ready and check in. They tell us they will not be able to do our hair because they don’t have enough stylists??? Then why bother make an appointment a month ahead, confirm it the day before and drive all the way to come to the salon early when they could have called us in the morning and let us know that they have staff shortage so we could have cancelled on time??? Then they have the audacity to be rude and not be apologetic at all and say " don’t worry I will give you refund" like DUH of course you will! we had to run around in georgtown in heels and find a new place to get our hair done urgently on a friday afternoon. the most UNPROFESSIONAL experience i’ve had from a salon by far ( update: the owner and the manager of the salon called me to apologize and offer solutions after I wrote this review so I’m glad the managerial level cares about the customers’ experience)

Tracie took care of me and made my day with the blowout experience. She was kind and thoughtful throughout, explaining why she was doing what she was doing, setting expectations before the cold rinse and detangling, and paying attention to detail in a way that’s really rare. She was also so aware of everything happening, proactively greeting everyone who came in and making sure that everyone was taken care of while styling my hair. I assumed she was the manager, although her service was above and beyond what I’ve seen across dozens of appointments over the last decade with drybar. Promote her! You’re lucky to have her.
