This is not a salon, but a small rented room off a shared space where your hair will be washed. At first Akiko was very friendly, but slowly became more rigid. The feeling somehow became awkward over time and morphed into how I could accommodate her rather than the other way around. Additionally, I have always been accustomed to much more attention to detail when it comes to service, cut, color and finish. The hair dryer she uses is shaped like an open pipe, so much of the air will hit you directly in the face; color was not applied carefully or for the specified time. Fundamentally the cost did not reflect the service I received.

Wow, Akiko is truly magical! Watching her work is like an artist in motion. She gave me the cutest, most me haircut I could have ever wanted. It also feels so easy to style. On top of that she is very sweet and radiant that I have a small girl crush, making the whole experience feel special. Highly recommend her if you’re looking for thoughtful styling from someone unbelievably skilled in her craft!

The haircut was very detail in layers~ Exactly the way that I wanted~ owner is very nice, friendly and listen to my needs. for those who is afraid of dog like me, don’t need to worry too much, her dog is cute and calm for entire time I was there. Very nice experience~

I’m picky with my hair cuts, and I travel a lot, so it’s not always easy to find a good hairdresser and a quality cut when moving to a new town (especially during COVID!). I’m glad I found this place off the beaten path! Great experience, great haircut, always a pleasure. Thanks!

Akiko is wonderful. Every haircut I’ve ever gotten has been perfect, including drastic changes. She carries hair products from Japan that you can take home with you. Her shop is so cute and there’s toys and trinkets adorning everything. She brings her gentle dog to work with her and he mostly sleeps after he greets you — too cute.

My place for haircuts in DC. I go every few months for a trim. Akiko is great at giving low maintenance cuts that flatters my hair texture. I also appreciate that she doesn’t do any of the crazy blow outs after that completely cover up how the actual hair will look on a daily basis. Her dog is also really cute and chill.

Akiko is hands down THE BEST! 🙌🏾 She’s very chatty, friendly, and has very good fashion sense and energetic vibe. I went there for a big transformation from long hair to short and was very worried about the result, but she was so encouraging and supportive, and of course, she did her job beautifully and immediately made me look a lot cooler than before. The best.
