Nick squeezed me in last minute and nailed exactly what I wanted! It’s been years since I’ve felt this confident. As I step back into the beauty industry, he reminded me why I love it. More therapeutic than therapy. And turns out he’s the owner?! So humble and talented. Highly HIGHLY recommend!

New clients: 1) Have an actual exchange with your stylist about pricing. The stylist's own page on the Kinship website might not be up-to-date. 2) If you book online, your confirmation email will ask you to come in 15 minutes early, don't bother, this is just to make sure you are not late. I was prepared to pay $120+ tip, which is a lot on my budget, but with the right stylist can be worth it. I was taking a gamble that Missy would be worth it. After the haircut, she charged me $150, which is more than I want to pay, and would have never chosen to. I said that wasn't what was on the website, and she said the website wasn't updated. I paid it, and left a tip, though smaller than I would normally, and almost immediately regretted it. I checked the website, which confirmed that Missy charged $120. And I checked the confirmation email and it strongly encouraged feedback, so I wrote an email with my polite and honest feedback. Megan, the owner, got back to me fairly quickly, apologized, and said she didn't know Missy had raised her prices and said she would try to have more updated info on the website going forward. She encouraged me to contact Missy if I was still dissatisfied. Should I communicate for a third time that I think I paid too much? They've clearly communicated now, as the price is correct on the website. Less annoying, but adding to my discomfort, was arriving more than the 15 minutes early, because I do what I'm asked, and not even being greeted - no "Hello," or "Welcome In," or even a direct look my way. I was in plain site of the stylists. I felt invisible and awkward and regretted leaving work in a rush to be 15 minutes early. Megan again apologized in her reply and said there were signs up to make myself at home. I'd read the signs. Whether or not I love my haircut, I won't be back. I don't feel that either my time or my dollars are valued.

Just had my first cut done here with Lauren and I can’t say enough what a great experience it was. Lauren put real time and effort into finding out the style I was looking for and then executed it beautifully. Her thoughtfulness and care made all the difference. It’s been many years since I’ve had a haircut that made me so happy. It’s a bonus that the salon itself is gorgeous with amazing light. Plus online booking and not feeling pressured to buy products are major pluses. I finally have a salon I’m happy to become a regular at!

I cannot recommend Lauren at Kinship hair enough. She gave me a transformative cut and color, I walked out of there feeling like a new woman. She was considerate of what I wanted while also suggesting things that would compliment my hair type and color. Her expertise shone through with her suggestions, and I am in love with the finished product. She was professional, kind, and created a relaxing and rejuvenating atmosphere that left me feeling great inside & out. Thank you Lauren!

L'Atelier Salon is the most beautiful salon in Santa Cruz. I have been going there for about 4 years, and while Megan is the only stylist I've ever had, I know that all of the other stylists are top-notch as well! If you want to feel like you are at the spa while getting your hair done then this is the spot!

This salon is so cute inside and in a really convenient location. I went to Jillian Haun a few months ago and she was AMAZING!! I have super curly hair and am always so nervous to try a new stylist but right away she was able to see some underlying issues with my last cut. She did a beautiful blowout and when I washed it back to curly my hair felt even, bouncy, and full bodied, which is what I love!! Thanks Jillian, will be back again!!

I really like L'Atelier and their staff. My hairstylist is Claire Rosenberg & she does an absolutely lovely job with my hair, which is straight and long. She is very personable & professional and fun to chat with. L'Atelier's staff is professional & warm & their salon is very well situated. They carry and work with Kevin Murphy products, which work well with my hair type. The clientele ranges all ages and genders. L'Atelier is definitely a premium salon, not a Supercuts, though their price points are reasonable for the amount of care they take with their clients. Try them out!
