She was very nice, but due to lack of poor communication and not listening to my requests, this has been the worst haircut I have ever received. I have been so sad and do not want to go outside. When I came, I told her that I had a lot of dead ends and wanted to get rid of them. She proceeded to cut my hair while I was still standing. I had reference pictures prepared, but she did not ask to look at them and moved so quickly that I was taken aback. After washing my hair, I told her I did not want layers because I have had them in the past and they do not suit me. She proceeded to say I needed them the Korean style (even though I am Korean) and cut layers. For context, my hair used to go below my chest, and now my first layer is shorter than my chin. She cut over 9 inches of hair off. They are so blocky and frame my face so poorly. She asked if I wanted bangs, and I said yes thinking she was referring to my side bangs. This was poor communication my part, however the amount of hair she cut off for my bangs was too much. She cut off hair up to behind my ear for my bangs, which I have never experienced. When I left the salon, my "bangs" stuck out and made me look like a boy because they were so thick and choppy. At the end, she told me that I would need to style my hair everyday or else it will look bad. I wish she had told me that before, as I would have opted not to get my hair cut with her if I'd known. I choose to get beauty treatments to make my life easier, not harder. I feel very sad to make this post, as the woman was very kind, but at the end I am wanting to make sure no one goes through the haircut I did.
(Trying to post again because for some reason it never seemed to upload? Maybe because I tried uploading the pictures too many times because the resolution was too large). Really loved my haircut! One picture (the flat straight one) is a before and the other 2 pictures were the finished product! I wanted face framing bangs with layers, and that is exactly what I got! She knew how to style Asian hair well, and was quick and efficient. We discussed maybe getting a perm next time which I had been thinking about doing. I think there may have been some miscommunication on the appointment time, but she rushed over right away and I wasn't in a rush! She was very sweet and apologetic about it. When you walk in to the building there are a bunch of different floors and places. She is on the 1st floor so you can go up the stairs or take the elevator to floor 1. Also she is cash only which is good to know! She also accepted Venmo.
Intimate and less accessible location but this place is worth going to. The stylist is very detail oriented and skilled at her trade. Definitely coming back again.
I have to admit, I’ve tried so many salons, but I’ve never met an owner like the one at this shop. Not only is she incredibly talented and detail-oriented, but she’s also so down-to-earth. Today, I got a digital perm and had my hair dyed, which took almost six hours! We had such a great conversation the whole time, and I never once felt bored. I truly love her personality—not just as a hair designer, but as a person!
I’m so glad I found this place! I was worried I wouldn’t find a good Korean stylist in NYC after having a long-term one back in LA, but she exceeded my expectations. She’s amazing with men’s down perms and root perms, really understands the latest Korean styles, and pays attention to every detail. She also makes you feel comfortable the entire time. So happy to have found her, highly recommend!
I had a really horrible haircut at a nearby barbershop and rushed here hoping for a fix. She took great care and fixed it way better than i expected. Pays great attention to details. Highly recommend!
The shampoo and style were fine, but I felt the service didn’t quite match the price. At $70 for under 30 minutes, it seemed a bit steep, especially with no hot irons used. I also found it unusual that the stylist focused on critiquing the cut rather than acknowledging that my thin hair is actually in good condition. Overall, the result was okay, but I expected a more supportive approach and better value for money
