Rama Beauty and African Hair Braiding - Nicholas Ave ✂

I stopped by to get my hair braided today, I brought my own hair, got basic knotless braids with loose ends, they changed me $240, $60 MORE for some reason and didn't mention that they didn't know how to do the hair style or anything just told me to sit down. The final results looked fine when I left the salon but they put way too much gel and mousse in it that the braids was stiff solid and there were white sticky stuff all over my scalp. I can't sleep with all that on my head so I decided to quickly wash it off; one by one each human hair piece for the loose ends started falling out and the braid started to unravel, it haven't need on my head for 4 hours. hundreds of dollars wasted.

Neighborhood - residential street; however, at tight at the light will bring you to many business, food, etc. There is alternate side (free) parking. Salon - small, quaint, and fairly clean Ambiance - peaceful Staff - hard workers; needs consistency with customers and to use discrepancy and respect speaking with their customers (cultural). The staff is fast (medium box braids, long, with 2 ppl braiding finishes in 2-3hrs). My hair, overall experience, and cost- I'll rate 7 of 10.

I just have to leave a review because I am so pleased with my experience. I just moved here from CA and had no idea of where the good braids shops are cuz I literally see them on every corner. I saw a woman at the Supermarket whose braids looked really good & I asked where she got them done and she said "3 months ago at Rama Beauty". Her braids were 3 months old and still looked amazing. I instantly called They sent me the location at 9am and I went in about 11:30am. I wanted Boho knotless braids with 100% Human Hair ( not that Hairmix). I was greeted and assisted by a woman named Fatima. I explained to her exactly what I wanted from color, size and hair type. This woman went above and beyond to deliver, from working with me and what I desired and setting me up with the perfect braider. A lady named Fatu did the braiding. Just she alone and I’m telling you she braids fast. We took maybe 2 20-30 min breaks but she started at about 12ish and I was out by 8pm. She listened to me to understand exactly what I wanted and I was so happy by the time I got up out that chair. I love my hair!! I am not sure about the other locations but I will definitely be back to this one! I highly recommend!!✨ Oh and I paid $300 but it is definitely worth the money.

Hi everyone I figured I should warn you not to come here. I got my hair done 2 weeks ago and it was terrible. The hair was so tight I couldn’t sleep for a week, I ended up having bumps and bleeding from my scalp. They also refused to give me any money back and while they were cutting out my faux locs they cut my hair. This place is terrible service, terrible business and I highly recommend you stay away.

Im very happy with my hair. I walked in and luckily i did not have to wait long. I got there at 7 pm and was in a chair within 10 minutes. By 10pm I was getting in my car My hair is not braided tight at all. One person did my hair and she was quick and took her time lol. Im definitely going back. And their 2nd shop is 24 hours for all my late night girlies.

Less than 3 hours for small butt length braids is a flex. White stuff from the product used to braid with and the ends of my hair not being tucked well is not.

We arrived at about 9:00pm and we had called a week previous to coming, as well as texted to confirm pricing and that we would get human hair. Again upon arrival we made it extremely clear that we wanted all human hair (which they charged us an additional amount for each) or we could go buy it and have it put on. Upon sitting we again showed all of our pictures over and over and also confirmed pricing and that we wanted all human hair. As soon as the braiders started applying the hair, I started feeling the allergic reaction. The hair felt hard and like plastic and I noticed synthetic packs near us. It was also very tight for us, because we are tender headed, but perhaps not the same for everyone. We finished at 1:30 and 2:00, but realized only the curl strands were human. We were pissed and a grand short in pockets. They didn’t let us keep the human hair used for strands. It seems they don’t use the full strands either, but cut snippets and plug in. The other thing was that we saw a roach crawl out of the wall and back and they kept switching and adding braiders to do simply things…trim ends of braids, dip braids in hot water, do baby hair, etc., which resulted in more ppl to tip. Overall, if we weren’t allergic to the hair AND if they had been honest, it would’ve been cool. We didn’t receive the styles we asked for in pictures, but were similar. We felt played and know better next time to make sure it’s human hair and to check facility, reviews and stop the braiders at the points we notice things not going how we asked. I thought it was dope that they were open 24 hours, but being out there at those hours ain’t worth it. Overall was a 5 out of 10.
