Masae is amazing! Her cuts are perfect, she explains everything extremely well, and her salon space is so comfortable and relaxing! I highly recommend her services. I’ve loved every cut I’ve gotten from her, plus she’s great with color as well! I have now had my hair colored twice with highlights (two very different looks) and she did a phenomenal job with both! Do yourself a favor and book a service asap!

I have been going to Masae for years and she has always done a meticulous and thoughtful job cutting my hair. She takes the time to listen to what you want and is so detail oriented. Her salon is a quiet oasis in this busy city, and she always kindly offers something to drink. I highly recommend Masae to anyone who needs a fabulous cut or color - she is a gem!!

Masae truly works her magic every single time I see her. I’ve been going to her since 2020 and I will never forget my first experience when Masae put me completely at ease. I used store bought hair color to do myself at home during the pandemic and she changed my anxiety about going to hair salons, mainly because my hair always turns out the same reddish brown shade which I got tired of seeing when I went to previous salons. My excitement when I finally see how my hair turned out always exceeds my expectations and I can’t wait to show it off. Always the best experience!! Masae is the best! I’ve been seeing her for years now, and she never fails to deliver exactly what I’m looking for. Initially, I would only ask for haircuts, which she executed so well that I ended up following her when she left the salon where we met. I had never colored my hair before, but after the pandemic I decided to change things up. Masae has been an amazing partner through my color journey; she’s great at taking my vague ideas and inspiration pictures and sharing what she thinks will work best for my hair. And she’s always right 🙂 I definitely recommend Masae for all things hair!

Had the most amazing experience getting my haircut, root touch up and highlights; I couldn’t be happier! From the moment I walked into the salon, I was impressed. Clean, stylish, and so serene, with the perfect blend of modern touches and chic vibes. I've been visiting Masae, since she used to work at a different salon in the East Village (over 20+ years). She is super friendly, attentive, and truly has an eye for color. The tones are perfectly blended and natural. I'm so proud of her for opening her own salon. I've never felt strongly about committing to a hair stylist until Masae. Just look at her work - it speaks for itself! She's extremely talented at giving you what you ask for while also communicating limits and expectations - e.g. when I first came to her, I went from dark brown/black Asian hair to a light gray balayage over the course of a few months and she was careful along the way to make sure my hair not only looked good during the lightening process, but was as healthy as it could be. We've been through a few different processes and we're starting to warm it up with some hints of brown lately (in the attached images) and I love it! I've been seeing Mashae for a few years and can't imagine going to anybody else who's as talented, genuine, and lovely - who else am I going to be able to say "do whatever you want" to and come out looking like this! An absolute master at her craft, Mashae is the person to visit for healthy, lived-in locks.

The Minima Hair experience with Masae is indulging, to say the least. The salon is private and tucked away from the hustle of the city. It is like getting your hair done in your own private living room, with one of the most talented stylists in NYC! Definitely a little NYC secret that you need to experience!!
