The more popular salon across the road on Pell st. was full and busy, so I took I chance on this one. I was skeptical because the place looks shabby and i thought it was just a barbershop then I saw female staff on the ither side. I got a very relaxing hair wash,,, the lady was vigorously washing my scalp that for some, it may feel like she’s rough but it felt like a head massage for me. MANDY did my hair. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. My hair easily beat the 120 haircut I got from midtown. I will definitely comeback here when I visit Chinatown again. I am not sure if they allow you to choose a hairdresser but I recommend making allowance so you can just come back when Mandy is available. I paid 22 dollars plus tip. As for telling her they hairstyle, I just told her short layers, short at the back and long at the front.

I brought my daughter who has curly hair in for a simple blowout. No wash, just a blowout. When it was down I told the bald headed man who did her hair that the front was puffy and the top of her head was still curly. He muttered under his breath and gave he an attitude. When I asked what the issue was he spoke in Chinese and just get making these hand gestures. Another man from the back said "oh when she washed her hair at home she must have put oil in it." I said No she just washed it that’s all. So the bald man proceeded to fix her hair which by the came out better the next time. So ummm what was that about oil? No, you were just lazy. Now it comes time to pay. He says $30. So I ask why if the sign I am looking at says $25 and again he starts with this face and talking under his breath again. The guy in the back comes up and says" well she has really curly hair." So I said " all he had to do was tell me that. The sign said one thing and you’re charging me another. I paid and left. These two men are rude and should not be working with the public. If you don’t like your job servicing people then find something else to do. To act like this in front of a child is disgraceful. I will never go back and will make sure I tell everyone I know not to go there again!

Love this place! I typically get a haircut and my last cut was from Mandy. She did a great job and was very thorough! My Chinese isn’t the best, so I typically bring in pictures of what I am looking for. The staff also know English, especially phrases around haircuts. Prices are currently $5 for a hair wash and a haircut for my medium/long hair is $20. Very affordable, no frills place. Remember to tip!

I’d just recommend going to another one of the cheap spots around Pell st. They took 20 mins to do wash blow and cut (my hair is shoulder length and she cut 2 inches) and then got annoyed when i tipped $17. Didn’t even say thank you, like that’s what I can give. She splashed water in my face multiple times too. Would’ve saved this review if she was nice enough to say thank you!

I feel the hair cut is not that good at the beginning, and I was trying to be polite and say it looks good. Then I paid for the haircut and the lady called me out for tips. I have to pay extra few bucks for the tips which i am not super happy about and the service is not that good to a point that deserves a tip.

I was so regret to find Vicky to do my hair cut. She cut my hair so ugly even I showed her the pictures how I wanted to cut. After I got home and washed it and it made me cry. I don’t know how can she be a hair stylist. She also charges higher price than the other hair stylist. I don’t know why some people said she is good. Even for free, I will not go to there again. It was a nightmare.
