My experience with Jeane was wonderful. She was very attentive and communicated with me so well, especially since I am deaf. I truly appreciated her patience and care. They knew exactly what to do with my hair, especially with framing my face, and I loved their professional recommendations. They shampooed my hair and even had two people help dry it because they were able to handle my thick hair. I felt so beautiful after my visit and look forward to returning to this salon as a regular client. Jeane was very gentle and never rushed me, even though the place was busy. The hospitality and professionalism here are top notch. I left feeling confident and highly recommend this place.
Highly recommend coming here for styling/updos! I never got my hair cut here but the 원장님 did an incredible job at styling my hair. It was a simple fishbraid hairstyle but she put so much technique into giving my flat hair volume where it needed and she has an eye for knowing where and how to style hair pieces in a way that complements your face. A bit pricy but recommend for events!!
Han and his entire team have been my secret weapon in life for almost 20 years now. The confidence that they instill -- simply with their professionalism, attention to detail, and their understated, elegant, edgy sense of style -- is amazing. Nevermind the fact that I get to walk around New York City every day looking good and feeling good everywhere I go.
Highly recommend: Kakaboka is AMAZING and my trusted go-to salon. The space is bright and clean and welcoming, the staff is kind and responsive and wonderfully professional, and the haircuts and styling are always fantastic. I have been a delighted customer for several years - with regular haircuts and special hairstyling for important occasions - and the Kakaboka team has consistently delivered exactly what I needed, and often much more. An extra shout-out for Ms Suh Seung-hyun who regularly cuts and styles my hair - she is such an inspiring pro and does an excellent job every single time. Thank you so much, Team Kakaboka!
Got a digital perm and haircut at Kakaboka. Seunghyun (their female director) is very skilled and professional, and also super nice. All the other staff were very friendly and gentle as well!
Independently-owned hair salon that has everything to offer to their clientele! My family and I have been regulars for the last 30+ years and the service never disappoints. We travel all the way from Philadelphia for our cut, color and perm at this salon. The owners provide unparalleled service when it comes to styling and while some have noted the pricey nature, no other salon in the tri-state area can match their cutting/styling skills. All in all, this high-end salon has my full endorsement — there is a reason they have survived the pandemic, let alone decades of business in the highly-competitive and coveted Korea-town neighborhood of midtown Manhattan!
I’ve been trying to convince myself these past few days, but after washing my hair today and seeing it in the mirror again, I completely broke down and decided to write this review. I got a full hair dye and haircut at this salon. First, the color turned out nothing like what I asked for — even after confirming multiple times with the stylist, the final result was still very different from what I wanted. I also requested a light trim with some soft layers, but the stylist, Jeane, cut very harsh layers with no smooth transition. After washing, the upper layers puffed up while the lower part looked like a straight, blunt cut. The overall shape resembles a jellyfish — uneven and unnatural — which makes me look much older than before. I spent over $600 and only hoped for a satisfying color and a natural style, but the result was completely disappointing — it’s been bothering me emotionally ever since. I sincerely hope anyone considering coming to this salon will think twice.
