Hair Kuwayama

Hands down the best hair salon and my favorite! I have been going here for haircuts and color since 2017 and I have always been pleased to see the results. The stylists here are artists and they are super sweet and patient. Even though I moved out of New York state I still come back a few times a year because I couldn’t trust anyone else with my hair. The price might be a bit higher than other places but it is all worth it. I highly recommend Yuya whether you need a haircut or hair color!

This hair salon has never disappointed me! And the only place I go to in the city, the place is pretty and nice, the stuffs there are super nice! I love my hairstylist Kelly, she saved my hair ! Kelly is such a great hairstylist and great communicator, I always amazed by her work.She not only does a great job with my hair, but also gives me great tip for how to take care my hair! Love her so much !

I’ve been coming to this salon for more than 4 yrs (before and after the name change and relocation), and Hitomi has always been my hair stylist. She’s so good and so fun to be with!!! I’m gonna miss her so much after I move out of New York… The salon itself is clean and spacious. I did lash extension here as well, the service was really good!!!

Very nice and courteous staff. The place is clean and neat. Haircuts were quite good. Had highlights there a few times, and they have been just OK. It works be nice if the streaks are thinner and more strategically placed so they look more natural. Prices are a little on the high end, but not bad in Manhattan at all. Be warned that they require you to decide what services you will be getting at the time you schedule the appointment. If you are sure you will be doing color but just not too sure exactly what type of coloring services you want, that's OK. However, if you are deciding between perming or color, they force you to make that decision before they schedule you in. Not the most flexible because some people would like to consult with the stylist before making a decision. Overall, they are a good Japanese hair salon.

I highly recommend this salon and my hairstylist(Hitomi)! I've been to this salon over 5 years. This salon is clean and has a cozy vibe. I've done with my hair bleach, colors, and hair cut regularly from Hitomi, she is always listening what her client wants well, taking care of my hair condition with giving a tip for homecare, and she makes the best result of my hair everytime! She and every staffs have smile always 🙂

Kuwayama is my go-to salon for a great men's haircut. Although I've had great cuts from Nali there, it's sometimes hard to book the cutter you want at the time that's convenient. So I've taken to letting whoever is available cut my hair. In the 10months I've been doing this it's worked out GREAT! Never a bad cut - always polite, profession and skilled - no matter who you wind up with.

The haircut was terrible. The customer service was atrocious. The stylist (Kelly) mocked me the whole time. I’m not someone who leaves reviews but this was ridiculous. She mocked me for how long my hair was, how my dry ends were ("wow your hair must always be tangled because of the dryness!"). She also remarked how "tragically straight and flat" my hair was multiple times, and just kept making unsolicited comments like "wow you must be someone who just wears their hair in a pony tail every day, right," and just kept laughing at me. I didn’t even say anything! I just had to take it the whole time. I’m appalled and will never patron or recommend this place to anyone again.
