JK was amazing! I found him through Instagram (both his and bom hair’s) and went in without a reference photo, trusting his judgement - and I’m so glad I did. He fixed my uneven layers, framed my face beautifully, did a root perm, and permed the rest of my hair. The salon itself is great too - super comfortable shampoo chairs, kind and attentive staff, and even tea while waiting for the perm. I reached out via Instagram for a last-minute appointment and was pleasantly surprised they could fit me in. Will definitely be coming back.

A few weeks ago, I had an appointment with Jina Kim for root lightening, and it turned into one of the most disappointing salon experiences I’ve ever had. I clearly explained that my hair is fine, lifts quickly, and that I only wanted a soft, natural lightening. Despite that, bleach was applied to my entire head at once (not in sections), left too long, and even heated - which resulted in a burned scalp and patchy, over-processed roots completely disconnected from the rest of my hair. My forehead was burned, my scalp stayed sore for days, and I had to schedule treatment at another salon to repair the damage and rebuild my hair’s structure. After trusting this place with my hair recovery, I left in pain and deeply disappointed.

I’m almost never satisfied with my haircut right after getting it done- it usually takes at least two weeks before it starts to look good on me (some of the guys will understand). But not this time. For the first time, I walked out genuinely happy with my hair right after the session with JK. The salon itself has such a comfortable atmosphere, and the staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming. I know JK’s from a well-known salon in Boston, and I’m so glad he moved to the city. Highly recommend him!

Just got my first perm for my naturally blonde and virgin hair and I am sooooo happy with the result. I have sort of thin hair without my volume and now my hair is full of volume and has amazing big curls now. I style my hair every day with a dyson so achieving a similar look was my goal. Jen and JK did an amazing job! I will be coming back and would recommend them ❤️

Got a cold perm with soft curls and a mullet haircut from JK and I love how it turned out! The curls look super soft and natural. He really took his time to understand what I wanted and made sure everything turned out perfectly. Definitely recommend him if you’re thinking about getting a perm or trying a new style.

Love the whole experience I received from the time I booked for an appointment until I left the salon. Booking was so easy on the website and very detailed of who the hairstylist you want and the time choices. They sent confirmations through email and on the day of a text on how to get into the salon. The place is so bright, clean and spacious. Friendly staff and very polite. Love the appointment system as they adjusted the time for each haircut/customer so they could focus on one customer at a time. Have known Mr. Lee from a salon in ktown for so long and heard that he opened a new place, I came to have him cut my hair again. Came in and was greeted by the staff to secure jacket& belongings in the locker. Was lead to the hair wash station, chair was comfy and very new. Love love the hair massage during the washing, very relaxing. Finally, like before Mr. Lee cut my hair with care and very focused. He listened to my requests. Also, he recommended certain things and suggested ways how to blow dry my hair for styles. Final result by Mr. Lee of my hair never disappoints. Love my new hair.

I recently visited Bom Hair Salon for the first time while I was in NYC and had a haircut and perm done by JK. It was a great experience overall. What I liked most was how detailed and careful he was with my hair and you can really tell that he puts a lot of thought into his work. He fully paid attention to what I wanted and made sure everything looked natural. If you’re into Korean-style hair, I would definitely recommend JK.
