Had an amazing experience at this hair salon! The staff were friendly and professional, making me feel comfortable right away. My stylist paid attention to every detail and gave me a fresh, modern look that suits me perfectly. The salon is clean and well-organized. Great results and worth every penny!

I can not explain how amazing this experience was. Our son hater every barber shop we took him to until we walked in here. They were amazing and kind and the energy relaxed our son! My blowout!!! I’ve been getting blowouts (real blowouts) forever and a day! This was top 10 experience!

I split my time between Detroit and TN but needed to find someone local to cut my hair. So glad I followed the reviews to Black. Jeph did an *excellent job* and I will be back. [I'm picky and the same guy has cut my hair for about 15 years.] Conveniently located in Corktown, easy parking, great space and people.

I had a few hours to kill before going to the airport and my coworker had made an appointment to get her hair color, there was one opening at the same time with Jeph for a haircut so I booked it. I regularly get my hair cut, but I just wanted something new and to keep my length. Jeph added layers and a curtain bang and I swear this is the best hair cut I’ve ever had, my hair just feels so bouncy and looks so cute! Beyond being an incredible hair stylist everyone at the salon was friendly, Jeph and beyond welcoming as well as Abby and Melissa. I also loved hearing about Jeph’s leather purses and accessories that he makes (my co worker even bought a purse) and about his love of motorcycles.

I meant to review after my first visit at the end of August, but, well, you know how life gets away from us! If you are looking for a new Salon in Detroit, I highly recommend Black in Corktown. I was hesitant at first, because it seems like a place for "New Detroit" types, but my concern was for nothing. I immediately was made to feel comfortable and welcomed by Melissa and Owner Jeph. Melissa is a consummate professional - mature and knowledgeable beyond her years - and she did a wonderful job matching and tuning up my color from a previous stylist. I particularly appreciated the collaboration among stylists - you end up receiving all of their combined expertise and care. I did not get a cut, but next time!

Black the Salon is such an awesome spot. The place is cozy and the people are welcoming. At first I thought the smell of leather and sewing machines were part of the decor and then I realized Jeph is making gorgeous leather bags and wallets in between styling clients. My daughter wanted lots of hair cut and a new style so Jeph and his team spent lots of time making my daughter feel like a queen and only charged for a kids cut since she’s 12. Her hair looks beautiful and it was such a great experience
