I have officially decided I will travel for a haircut from Jackie Alvarenga — she is genuinely that good. I have very thick, textured hair that’s curly on the bottom and wavy on top, and while I’ve had plenty of decent cuts over the years, nothing compares to what Jackie does. My first cut from her lasted almost nine months and still looked great. I made the mistake of going to someone else for a quick fix, and the layers were choppy — but Jackie completely saved it at my next appointment. She really understands different hair types, listens to what you want, and knows how to shape and texturize so it grows beautifully. For the first time in my life, I pre-booked a haircut six months out — because I refuse to risk another impulsive "I need a haircut tomorrow" situation. Jackie is truly fantastic, and I can’t recommend her enough!

I got a fantastic haircut and John was very pleasant throughout the entire appointment. What stood out the most was how genuinely interested he was in understanding what I liked, and how that connected with the way my hair grows and looks. He took the time to combine all of those details, and the end result was the perfect mix of style, shape, and practicality. I couldn’t be happier with the cut and the overall experience. I highly recommend John and the salon!

How do you know you have a good haircut? You get it cut on Wednesday, fly to Houston on Thursday, then fly overnight to Buenos Aires all the time wearing a mask and headphones and using a neck pillow to sleep. Then before deplaning, without benefit of a mirror, you run the brush through your hair. And getting off the plane, the flight attendant says, "I love your hair!" Thank you, Kevin Miller!

My first time with Jackie was amazing ! She made me feel so comfortable and calm. She really listened and understood what I wanted. She truly knows what she is doing!!! I have never sticked to one hairstylist but I will for sure be going back to Jackie !!! Before and after pics !

First of all I found all of the stylists to be extremely kind, friendly and accommodating. Thus I hesitated before writing this review... however, still feeling very down this morning about my hair I decided to share my experience. I feel no one should spend their time and money and not LOVE their hair. I read many rave reviews about Aquilano, and the salon was recommended to me. When I called I requested a stylist specializing in balayage (a technique I had done on my hair for the past 2 years by my stylist in CA). The first photo depicts my hair with balayage as I prefer it to look (taken 4 weeks ago). .. $245 later I was devastated by my hair results. I was not wishing to change a thing to my hair, I even gave the hair formula from my previous stylist to the one at Aquilano. NEVER have I left an appointment and later been so upset that I went back to have my hair "fixed." Typically I’m taking selfies post hair appointments. The salon kindly accommodated my stylist "fixing" my hair that very same afternoon. Which I am very grateful, as it is less brassy now. Sadly though my hair is nowhere near what I am a accustomed to and I am far to scared to do anything else to it at this point. I did like the trim the stylist gave me as another positive point of my appointment.

First experience at Aquilano was great! Maryam absolutely knocked it out of the park. It’s always nerve wracking trying a new salon and stylist, but the salon was clean and stocked with coffee and mimosas while all of the stylists and staff were kind, knowledgeable, and really fun to be around. I would definitely recommend this salon and Maryam if you’re looking for a great place to go!
