Salon 21

I have been going to Salon 21 for years and have consistently had wonderful experiences. The service is always excellent, and everyone there is so kind, welcoming, and professional. I have been seeing Ruby for years, and she is truly amazing. She is positive, kind, patient, and incredibly talented. She always listens carefully and gives me exactly the haircut I ask for, even when I feel anxious about changing my style. Ruby makes the whole experience comfortable and reassuring every time. I wouldn’t trust my hair with anyone else and highly recommend Salon 21 and Ruby to anyone looking for great service and a welcoming environment.

So this was my first time getting my hair done at this salon. I always get it done in NY or in Las Cruces with salons I know. I just couldn’t get into either appointment due to my schedule. I had one of the younger stylist doing my hair who’s starting out in cutting and styling hair. Although I was nervous due to being unfamiliar with the salon, I went in with an open mind. She was kind, and worked diligently on my hair. She also offered me some water which was really nice given the long appointment time. With the final result, however, I was a bit disappointed as the top part of my highlights are uneven. One side is thicker than the other, and the top highlights don’t completely blend with the bottom highlights as I previously had much lighter highlights. The left side of my hair is more blended while the right has lighter highlights. I didn’t want to say anything because she worked so long on it. But then when I went to check out I was surprised that I was charged extra for toner. $30 more. My two other stylists factor this into the highlights plus when I set up my appointment, what was listed was partial highlights and haircut and blow drying (previously was haircut and styling, which was also not something I originally wanted, she did adjust my preferences when I went into the salon). I wish there was a little bit more transparency up front about the cost as well as specifying blow out vs styling as there is a $15 difference in both.

Ruby was great! She knew just what I wanted and needed. Highly recommend, if you’re looking for a reasonable price, with stylists that know what they are doing, check it out. 🙌🏼

Unfortunately, our experience at Salon 21 left much to be desired. The hairdresser was very much apathetic to our family member. She left his head and neck resting on the sink. She didn’t even offer to place a towel under his neck. His perm didn’t curl on the front. I called to inform her but again very much uncaring. She told me she would be leaving in 1 hour and we could come back but likely it wasn’t because of her technique!!! After that type of dismissive response he absolutely would not return. Very disappointed overall. Won’t go back!!

Ruby is an amazing barber! I’ve been going to her for a while and she always gets me right! Get your fades with her you won’t be disappointed she’s very professional and trust worthy

Lisa has been cutting mine and my children’s hair (2 boys and 1 girl) for a while now and she is the BEST with them especially. My boys were super apprehensive about hair cuts and she was so patient and kind with them and worked quickly. She always does a fantastic job with my daughter’s hair and leaves her feeling so happy! She is so gentle and will be honest about your hair goals and what would be best for you personally. Every time I leave her chair, I feel so happy with my hair!
