MK Salon & Barber

I have had a very bad experience with MK salon. I was trying to set up an appointment to get my hair done for an event and I had booked a week in advance to secure my spot, come the day of my appointment and they texted me saying that their pipes had frozen from a big snow storm and i need to come in with clean dry hair, I understand that things happen but I am not going to keep my appointment if the service can not be done and I will not do my hair to go and get my hair done. They had said they can not give me my deposit back but the policy states if I cancel, they canceled on me because the service was not able to be completed, if i just wanted my hair styled then that is the appointment I would have booked. I have been asking for a call from the owner for over a week now and no one will do anything but text me a screenshot of the policy and send unprofessional text messages which I would include if google let me but i will copy and paste some messages at the end. They keep pushing for me to reschedule and i am no longer able to make it there and am upset about the whole situation. I am also a hair stylist myself and I could not imagine treating anyone this way but looking at the 6 other comments saying the same thing, book at your own risk, there are other places in the area in the same price range that will treat you better. I also wanted to note that my coworkers will do my hair for free whenever I would like, I was going for the experience and for relaxation. Called to set an appointment and the owner set me up with a young lady to cut my hair when she first started the haircut. She did not have any spray bottles to wet my hair. That was the first red flag, and I asked for a mid skin fade. Very simple to do. She started with the scissors, which at that point I already knew this was gonna end up very bad after sitting there for an hour and a half of getting a butchered haircut while the girl was watching a YouTube video on how to cut hair. she must have texted the owner and he came over and said how did she do and showed me the back of my hair which had lines all in it and was cut straight across the back no fade at all. It was an absolute horrible experience and come to find out she had only worked there for a week and had no barbers license at all. It was absolutely ridiculous. I told him that it looked horrible so he started fixing it and told me that usually if he had to step in on a haircut, it would be extra money, but since I was unsatisfied, he was not going to do that and suggested that I still leave a tip. Then he tried telling me well. You never got a messed up a day in your life? And I said not until today and he was like I find that hard to believe. he did end up fixing it a little bit better than it was already butchered, but overall the worst experience I’ve ever had with a barbershop and this place should be shut down.

I went for a shampoo, and blowout style. So relaxing getting my have shampooed. My hair feels so nice and soft. Michael blow dried my hair and styled looks great. Nice products to keep my hair in shape too. The shop is very attractive and clean a very nice experience and felt my hair looked great when I left the shop. Michael is a joy to chat with too while getting my hair done. Very creative and talented I would recommend MK Beauty & Barber Lounge.

Barber was late to his appointment and extremely rude, premises are unsafe trying to enter. No refunds granted. DONT GO HERE I get there 3 minutes before my appointment, I now have to terrain around just straight slush puddles and ice to get the front, get to the door, no body’s there, ring the doorbell and wait, go back to car, I get random confusing texts from him that doesn’t explain the situation, I go back to door thinking he’s inside and ready now, not there, I just leave at this point, he’s now late, with no heads up or anything, the whole situation and premises feel unprofessional and an absolute turn off to going to this business. I call him out saying that was unprofessional and he immediately gets defensive and passive aggressive, not to mention not accepting he was late and saying he wasn’t late at all. He will not offer a refund since it’s there "policy" which doesn’t mean anything nor account for unprofessionalism on there end. Not to mention they have "110% satisfaction guaranteed" in that same policy Lol In all super unprofessional, you will soon probably see right below this review a reply down playing their unprofessionalism and saying I’m being ridiculous or what not, if they don’t I’ll remove this section, and if they actually give the refund I’ll change this review to not be as bad. If you’re gonna be unprofessional that’s fine, don’t steal my money too tho.

NEVER GO HERE! Amanda destroyed my childs hair. If i can leave a 0 I most definitely will. I called and asked if they accepted card payment, I was told yes and on the Google it says they are open till 11. When I arrived and met her i told her I will be paying with a cc, at first she said her cc app wasn't working and asked me to pay upfront i paid $80. My kid went first i showed her the picture on the bottom and explained don't cut the front, and she said ok. My child haircut was destroyed, she even cut his hairline. I was going to get a cut next, but I said no she said she will refund me the kids hair cut of 35 but not mine since I already paid, I asked her how does that make sense. I asked her to call the owner or manager she said he texted her that they will not refund. I called the owner and he didn't answer. we have a Holiday coming in couple days and she destroyed his haircut. And lost $80.

I booked a perm for 9:25pm and then they rescheduled for 10pm and confirmed it then without notice rescheduled me for the next day at 7pm. I paid a $25 deposit and the service showed $65 charge for a perm. Their updated appointment showed a charge of $150 for a short hair perm. I asked for my deposit back since that time would not work for me and they cancelled on me. They were incredibly rude to me and tried to gaslight me. They would not give my deposit back.

I am very picky about who does my hair and haven't been able to find a good hair stylist. I've gone to Rumors and paid for a $50 hair trim and still wasn't satisfied. I had Danielle do my hair at MK and finally found someone who cuts my hair the way I WANT it to be done. She gave me the whole royal treatment. While I waited I got to sit in the massage chair, they offered me coffee in these fancy little tea cups, when she washed my hair I got a head massage with a hot towel on my face. She even did my makeup, cut my hair exactly how I wanted it, gave me an incredible blow out. When she was finished I looked amazing. When I got home my boyfriend couldn't believe how good I looked and offered to take me out to dinner (he wanted to show me off lol). I will be going to MK from now on, finally found my hair stylist. Danielle and Michael were incredibly down to earth, funny and easy to talk to. I highly recommend.
