Grand Asia Market in North Carolina is one of those hidden gems that’s worth the drive if you love authentic Asian groceries and fresh produce. I’ve been a few times now and it’s become my go-to spot whenever I’m craving ingredients that the regular supermarkets just don’t carry. First off, parking is never an issue—there’s a huge lot right in front, so no circling around stressed out with a cart full of groceries. The store itself is massive and well-organized. The produce section is honestly impressive: super fresh guava, multiple kinds of grapes, dragon fruit, jackfruit (they even had pre-cut pieces ready to go), long beans, lotus root, bitter melon—you name it. Prices are fair and everything looks like it just came off the boat or farm. They also have a nice plant section with real and artificial greenery; I ended up grabbing a big bunch of lucky bamboo for only $8, which I thought was a steal. Seafood is where they really shine. The selection is crazy—whole golden pompano, mackerel, sardines, perch, catfish, octopus, and a ton more laid out on ice. They have live tilapia swimming in tanks and live blue crabs too (perfect if you want them as fresh as possible). The fish guys are quick and will clean/scale whatever you pick. Meat department is solid as well—plenty of duck (whole and parts), pork, chicken, and the usual cuts you’d expect in an Asian market. Grocery aisles are packed with everything from sauces and noodles to snacks and frozen dumplings, so I always leave with way more than I planned. There’s a small food court in the back with a bakery and a few hot food stalls doing Chinese dishes. I’ve only grabbed some BBQ pork buns and sesame balls from the bakery so far and they were fresh and tasty—definitely planning to try the hot food next time. Only reason I’m holding back the fifth star is that it can get pretty crowded on weekends and some of the signage is only in Chinese (not a huge deal, but a little English labeling would help newcomers). Otherwise, this place is fantastic and blows the bigger chain Asian markets out of the water for freshness and variety. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere in the area!
I love going to the Grand Asia Market when I need to find an ingredient I can't find in the international section at my local grocery store. Outside of food, I've also found it helpful when looking for certain cooking tools as it's where I got my julienne peeler and my small fryer skimmer. There is always a huge selection, and the restaurant is great for when I don't want to cook.
Great place to shop for fresh produce and everything Asian and Hispanic spices , great recommendation
I bought eleven items at the store. The cashier put everything in a plastic bag. When I got home, I realized that four items were missing! Everyone should really be careful. I suspect they did it on purpose.
The best. They sell just about anything you want. You can get a week's of healthy veggies and meats for like $40. Great pork belly. Lots of fresh and even alive fish, they've had whole live frogs lately. It will have a fish smell but thats just a real fish market. The veggies and fruits are seasonal which is fun finding new things. The baked and fresh food at the entrance is all great. This place rules.
Great selection of thai ingredients, with a generous food court!
Absolutely loved it here!! Great selection of food. Now I can make aaaalll the different types of ramen!! (From scratch.) The staff is super friendly too. They have a bakery, I'd love to get something next time I come in. Also a restaurant inside too!!
