A&C Supermarket

A&C is by far the worst Chinese supermarket I’ve experienced in the Triangle area of North Carolina. The night before, I purchased a wok and specifically confirmed the return policy with the manager, because I needed to take it back for our chef to check the model. The manager clearly stated that the wok must remain brand new and must not be placed on a stove or used in any way, as the firebox could blacken the bottom. I fully understood her requirements and repeatedly explained that we were only taking it back for the chef to look at, with absolutely no trial or use involved. We confirmed this on the spot and even took photos to document the condition. The very next afternoon, I returned to the store to request a refund. The wok had only been looked at in an office and never entered a kitchen. However, the same manager pointed to three small reddish-brown spots on the bottom and claimed that we had "made it dirty," using that as the reason to deny the refund. The problem is that these spots could not be wiped off at all and were clearly minor oxidation/rust from the iron material itself, not stains caused by use. What made this experience unacceptable was her attitude. She was extremely impatient, dismissive, and even spoke in a threatening manner, leaving no room for reasonable discussion. At no point did I feel any basic respect as a customer. I have been to many Chinese supermarkets in North Carolina, and I have never encountered a store that shifts product quality issues onto the customer while using such a hostile attitude. In comparison, stores like H Mart, Huaxia, or Liming are much more transparent and responsive when it comes to refunds. Bottom line: do not expect a fair or smooth refund process at A&C, even when the issue is clearly not your fault. This experience alone is enough for me to avoid this store in the future.

Pretty OK asian grocery store. You will find all the basics and then more. They have meats, decent selection of vegetables, and of course the pantry ingredients you can find in any large asian grocery. The seafood section offers variety of interesting seafood. The cashiers can be a little bit weird. They also have a chinese restaurant inside, the meals look good. I saw the roasted duck and wanted to try it. It is quite expensive. Half duck for $20, and the majority is just cut up back bones and the greasy, thick skin. I love duck, and I know how good duck tastes like. The duck they sell you is either that small, or they purposely don’t give you decent pieces of meat unless you buy the whole bird. Tastes is good, but not worth it. Anyway, you are better off buying an entire raw duck from their freezer section, salting it, and putting it in the oven yourself. The lady in the restaurant was more friendly then the cashiers.

I’d like to give zero start. I had a really disappointing and frustrating experience at this store. The cashier scanned a head of cabbage that I picked from the cheap vegetable pile, but charged me the higher price for the premium ones. When I pointed it out and asked for a refund or exchange, the cashier rudely insisted it was the expensive type and suggested someone else might have misplaced it. I politely asked to return it and said I’ll buy next time. Instead of helping, the owner rushed over and started yelling at me in a loud, aggressive tone: "If you picked the wrong item, would you put it back yourself?" I replied that this had nothing to do with my simple refund request and that shouting doesn’t make someone right. The whole attitude from both the cashier and owner was extremely rude and confrontational. Terrible customer service, dishonest pricing practices, and selling expired products. I felt disgusted by how I was treated and will never shop here again. Avoid this place.

This is my go-to store for pantry staples! A wide array of Asian products, canned goods, spices and grains. I also appreciate the tofu selection. I find the staff very helpful and lovely! Great prices too.

They consistently do not have fresh Japanese sweet potatoes out. There is a whole pile of Japanese sweet potatoes that should have been discarded probably weeks ago. I've been there when they bring out fresh ones and just pile them on top of the old ones. And if you ask if there are any fresh ones in the back, they will say no. Please do better and get rid of the old ones instead of hoping someone will buy them because they're the only ones sitting out. This is very frustrating as this is the only store that seems to carry them on this side of town.

Good Asian (mostly Chinese) grocery store. Has a nice mini restaurant inside with delicious hot food. They have fresh produce, fresh meat and fish, as well as other food items like snacks, noodles, candies, sauces, seasonings, and frozen/refrigerated food. They also sell kitchen equipments like woks and pans. Highly recommended!

Really enjoy this place! This Asian store has a restaurant that serves delicious roast duck and spicy beef noodle soup! You can also pick 3 dishes served with rice. The store has produce, a fish market, all the Asian snacks and an impressive selection of noodles from cooking ones to instant.
