Dainobu

What an awesome find in the neighborhood! There isn't a whole lot of Japanese food inside, but there's still some goodies to check out including a hair salon, fried chicken, and Japanese beauty products. Hope to see more Japanese shops in the future!

normally only review restaurants but this place had a special vibe to it. and very happy that it's located in our neighborhood, as a small but nice selection of items and in this intricate interesting place that serves noodles and also has a bakery. we'll be back

A nice Japanese grocery store with a good selection. They usually have frozen sliced meats you can use for hot pot / shabu shabu.

Mainly, I'm leaving this review to help everybody out. I went there today and felt immediately lost. There's no sign for this place. There's a door to a residential building nearby that says 302 and 300, but that's not the place. I was lucky that someone from the neighborhood was walking around and pointed me in the right direction. You want to go through the large gate to the left of that building and then go straight ahead. Going inside, the place is just like the pictures. A bit rough and industrial looking. That's okay because I'm not here for the aesthetics; I'm here for the food. I was happy to see that they have a good variety of natto, snacks, sauces, noodles, etc. There's also handmade items and skincare. There's a frozen food section that isn't very big but has some things I'll want to buy later. They have a small ice cream freezer. I didn't see much when it comes to readymade food except maybe some jello cups and a bowl of noodles with eggs and whatever. So you'll probably ask why I'm giving it 5 stars. Well, it's offering more than I expected. It fills a niche for that location that I greatly appreciate. The red bean mochi cake I bought tastes the freshest that I've ever had. The staff was very nice. I'll be back for the natto. 🙂

Cute little gem of a Japanese mini mart hidden away in Park Slope, next to a Japanese hair salon of good quality. Tasty Japanese snacks and some staples with some prepared food. I first encountered Dainobu at their Manhattan Union Square location.

Terrible. The staff is completely untrained, and I had an unpleasant experience for the first time in a while. The store is dirty, and they don’t even have products. I expected Japanese people to be more proper, but I’m disappointed…
