I managed to get a last minute appointment for a suspicious mole because someone canceled right before I called. I have a family history of skin cancer and I felt very heard when voicing my concerns. I didn’t even have to ask for a full body check, they just did one ad I am a new patient. So far, I can’t recommend them enough!
Dr. Karlsberg, Angie and the staff are all superb! I receive personal care and professionalism each time I visit. I trust Peter and his team with all my dermatology needs.
I had a quick visit today just to do a skin check on back, face, scalp and Dr Karlsberg did a tiny biopsy on my nose. Better safe than sorry! Dr is kind and efficient and does a great job. I’m so glad I went.
Dr. Karlsberg is the very best dermatologist! He is very intelligent, skillful and just an amazing person. He has been my doctor for many years and he always fixes me up. His assistant, Claudia, is so kind and thoughtful- always caring for me. All of the Staff at Ventura Institute for Dermatologic Arts are very professional and kind. Thank you Dr. Karlsberg and Staff.
I am extremely happy with the skin tags removal. I didn’t feel a thing. It was quick and painless. The staff and entire process was amazing!
From a year ago: I hated how the California Skin Institute treats its patients like a number, so I started to look for a smaller clinic. I apparently also have some friends and customers who go to this dermatologist. Small world. He really seemed compassionate and after a few laser treatments, things seemed slightly better for a few weeks. He even waved one visit fee since there was nothing he could do. However, I tried to reach out to figure out what something was called or what I could do, and it was simply a miscommunication. He thought I was referring to a spot on my nose. I meant a spot on my cheek, etc. No more responses for well over a month. I tried to just live with the issues spreading weekly, but when it reached my eye (making it droop), I reached out again to be told we aren't a good "fit". I never argued his opinion from months ago. It was just miscommunication. Feels very hurtful. I will look elsewhere, hopefully a place that doesn't use the same tools. A very nice feeling... Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're worried about yourself and your health, even if a place doesn't like you doing it. I don't talk much being an introvert with depression, but being treated like a burden isn't a good fit for me. If you do go here, don't bother with texts or e-mails, which is offered on their site. They will get you nowhere. Just call. Over the counter medications will help you more for more minor things, including seeing a doctor for freezing keratosis (which is extremely itchy). I did ask this clinic, but got no response. Unless you have cancer, burns, or need really expensive cosmetic aging surgery, go elsewhere for anti-aging assistance. Edit: I tried to find out exactly why they lied and claimed I didn't agree with a diagnosis. It sounds like the go to lie these days, because I never disagreed with any diagnosis. In fact, he never gave me one. He only could guess as to a possible dermatitis. That's fine. I was asking an unrelated question about what you call a certain skin defect, he misunderstood, then said he didn't know, the end. Instead of it being the end of it, they banned me. The high and mighty receptionist even tried to claim they have a record of why. I actually do. I save all texts, calls, and what they didn't know is I audio record all doctor appointments of any type. So, no, I have the proof otherwise. The truth is he doesn't like questions. He isn't comfortable with what he hasn't studied for. Just say you don't know and be willing to learn. What is with the god complex pride of doctors these days. He was not an approachable person, which stinks.
I switched skin drs because I wanted one close to home. I showed up for my appointment on time and the wait was short. The dr gave me a thorough exam and froze off several items she found and a couple that I indicated were bothering me. One spot on my back needs biopsy and I was promised a telephone call with results. Very nice professional office and I am happy.
