Dermatology Specialists of Ann Arbor

I’m only writing this review because it looks like someone else had a similar experience and I feel like people should know. I went in about eight months ago for a rash and swelling on my lips. The Dr immediately believed it was contact dermatitis from my toothpaste. She had me change my toothpaste and check back in. Things continued to get worse. They then prescribed a steroid cream, which provided temporary relief whenever it was used.i was told to continue the cream (1-2 weeks on with three days off inbetween). I kept coming in showing pictures and getting the same response. I was so uncomfortable and in pain. I did patch testing and they believed they found the culprit to my rash. But I do not use any of the allergens that I showed a reaction to. (Also getting the patch testing was a terrible experience, I was basically naked and had men in my room who did not identify themselves. I did formally complain about that and they were kind and understanding). I finally went to a different dermatologist and they swabbed my lips and discovered infections. I’m now on an antibiotic and my lips are improving. I can’t believe it took eight months to have someone consider something other than contact dermatitis and to actually listen to my concerns and not be dismissive. Also apparently the steroid cream is not helping…so it’s just prolonged things. I let them know I got a second opinion and wanted them to know and they just said "thanks for letting us know. Hope you are well" zero acknowledgment of their errors. Very disappointed in them. Will not be going back or recommending to anyone.

In very short words they do their job right not every one nowadays does. I am a person who notices very small details and those details make huge difference in my decisions. When the same doctor I went to prescribed a non cortisone cream for my daughter while every other doctor will treat anything with 0.5 or 0.1 cortisone I thought she is great she knows what she is doing. She is smart if I need anything I would go to her. I did she did great job again. I appreciate smart doctors who do their job right and know what they doing.

Very pleased with my first visit at the Ann Arbor location. Very short wait time. My PA was outstanding at examining my entire body during my annual exam. Service like this is greatly appreciated.

I recently had a skin cancer screening with Dr. Patel, and I couldn’t be more impressed. From the moment she walked into the room, she was professional, warm, and reassuring. She performed a very thorough check and explained everything clearly as she went, answering all of my questions with both expertise and kindness. Even though no issues were found, I truly appreciated how meticulous and knowledgeable she was throughout the exam. It's clear that she cares deeply about her patients and takes her role seriously. She is amazing. It’s not always easy to find a doctor who combines medical excellence with such a calm, compassionate bedside manner—but Dr. Patel absolutely does. I feel very confident in her care and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dermatologist who is both skilled and genuinely caring.

Their shameful "fancy hands," are too good for poor people skin. They refuse to accept my Medicare. They do not treat low income or disabled patients. Their "discretionary policy," to reject Medicare insured patients that receive assistance is definitely questionable, as skin cancer doesn’t make fiscal decisions like that. This greedy practice has no place in medicine. Complaints about their behavior and policy should go to: ADA, AMA, Medicare, and the State Board of Health.

I have been seeing Dr. Shivani Patel for many years now—she is my favorite dermatologist! She is incredibly knowledgeable and approaches me with compassion and kindness. I really like how attentive she is and how she presents multiple solutions and options with data so that you can make an educated choice about your health! She truly cares about your health and takes the time to sit down and truly listen to your concerns. The office is also very spacious, clean, efficient and full of kind staff! 🙂

I saw PA Sherren White at the Dermatology Specialists offices in Ann Arbor. I was desperate for help and PA White agreed to see me. I was sitting in front of her two hours later. I found her to be sincere, caring and thorough---brilliant. She carefully explained my illness, taught me how to get a handle on it and how to keep from getting it again...perfect manner, perfect communication and I now hope to get on her list for the annual screening.
