I have the worst skin problems, but I get the best care from Megan and all of her staff, in fact I call them my girls. The whole team from the front desk Checkin, to everyone in the back are amazing. I want to add Savanna from the Checkin to my list of girls. I was having trouble getting a call to PA Megan, and Savanna totally took care of it. SAVANNA welcome to my list of girls. Also side note, I started my journey with the clinic when it was on Gibson and I needed a MOHS procedure. It took me along time to become a full on dermatology patient with them. The wait is really no different than any other specialty medical care practice. See other dermatologist in the meantime, but keep trying, it's so worth the wait!
I would leave no stars if I could, I understand that the limited number of spaces, but it is still ridiculous. Trying to get my daughter in as a new patient has been a nightmare. I started calling right at 8:00 AM and got nothing but a busy signal. I kept calling for 35 minutes before finally getting through to the automated system, only to be put on hold for 15 minutes and then sent to voicemail. When I called back just two minutes later, I was told all new patient slots were already filled. This has happened multiple times over the past few months. I’ve tried other dermatology offices, but none accept her insurance—this office is the only option, and yet the scheduling system makes it nearly impossible to get care. As a working parent, I don’t have hours to spend calling over and over again. This office seriously needs a better system—maybe a phone queue that tells you your place in line, more staff answering calls on the first of the month, or an online scheduling option. I’m just trying to take care of my child, and this process is beyond frustrating. An online way would be so much better, then you can call when something becomes available.
The fact that you have to call the first Monday of the month for new patient appt is ridiculous. If you miss the day you have to wait a whole month to call again. I tried to schedule my son 6 months out to align our appts and I'm told they can schedule my appt but I need to call another day for his appt. Its a complete waist of time. Dermatology is already impossible in this state and policies like this make access to care even that much more frustrating.
A month ago I had my second skin cancer surgery at this clinic but this time with a different doctor, Dr. Chang. I found him and his assistant to be very friendly, helpful, explaining everything they were doing which helped me relax quite a bit. He even called the next day to check on me. My first surgery in 2021 was more intense, more painful and although the assistant was very sweet I had a different doctor who left me feeling highly uncomfortable and stressed. That is the reason for a 4 star rating. If both had been done by Dr. Chang, I would give them a 5 star rating. I highly recommend Dr. Chang!
I'm putting my name to this. I have been trying to get an appointment for 3 months for my mother, who has gotten a referral from her PCP. The practice's policy is to have new patient appointments scheduled on the first of the month. I made a total of 14 calls between 8:01am and 8:49am. At 8:03am, I left a message in the contact form on the website as I received a busy signal. I continued to receive a busy signal until 8:32am, I was able to leave a message for the admin. At 8:49am, I was told that all 50 appointments had been filled for new patients. While I am impressed with an intake rate of 1 patient/minute (I suspect this is false), they make no effort to make a waitlist or find alternate care - only placing the blame on the health care system in New Mexico. I want a cancer screening for my mom. I have a referral. She has insurance and we can pay the doctor. This shouldn't be complicated - how about continuing to schedule into the next month or establishing a wait list? Very poorly run practice and it is gambling with people's lives!
I’ve been a patient here for several years. Although I’m very sad for Dr Thompsons passing, trying to get in to see a physician is crazy. I’ve waited 5 months for my appointment, with two areas of concern and a previous history of issues. I had to reschedule this morning due to my son graduating from the military. They wanted to schedule out another 7 months, with a sorry! Nothing I can do. I see on other responses from the practice that there is a lesion clinic. This is not offered by the front desk staff. I get it. NM has a dermatology shortage, however there are times when there are compelling reasons to be seen.
Had my first visit this week to remove some basal cell carcinoma on my face. From the smiling caring receptionist who reassured me I was in good hands, that helped relieve some anxiety I was having. Every single person that made contact with me was genuinely caring and concerned about my well being. Anne and Dr Davis were THE BOMB!!! They reassured me, were loving towards me, I really did feel like I was in good hands! They removed the 2 areas on my face, and now I am free and clear of cancer. I can't express my gratitude enough for this wonderful place being there for me! I was refused service due to my insurance in the closer Texas facilities. They refused to take my Affordable Care Act Molina insurance. When I talked to them at DSCCNM They said, NO PROBLEM! All you'll have to cover is any copays you might have. We've got you! And Damn straight they did! Bless these people! Dr David Davis did my procedure, he was so wonderful, kind, caring, held my hand when I cried, with gratitude. You'll be in good hands with these kind loving people. THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME!!!!! ❤
