When it was Green Apple Dental it was really good. A few years ago, after they sold to a new owner, I went in looking to see what my options were to fix an overbite. They did an Invisalign exam and told me I was a perfect candidate and I had to cough up $6,000 for it. I wanted my teeth to line up so I did it. Fast forward 3 years my bite is still abyssmal and the dentist told me that they would no longer support my Invisalign because it was too expensive for them. So I paid a lot of money and got nothing in return. I ended up going to a real orthodontist who told me that I needed to have my upper and lower jaw broken and expanded but I was too old to have my upper jaw done so the bite I have is the bite I have to live with. Moral of the story, don’t trust this place.
A good dentist. I had a filling call out and after an X-ray I was told I needed one root canal and two crowns. Initially they couldn’t get me in for a month. This was concerning as there wasn’t much of my tooth left and the tooth breaking was a huge risk. After explaining that I could make the copay (roughly 3k) in cash immediately they were able to squeeze me in the next week. Appointment went well and I was cared for extremely well by the dental assistant. Their hours are only Thursday and Friday… Dental work is not cheap… but if you have cash and have free time on Thursday and Friday, this dentist is for you.
DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST -- THEY ARE SWINDLERS!! I went to receive a routine dental check up and cleaning. It was my first time going to Columbia Square Dental. I told them I have dental insurance and showed them my insurance card. Before I agreed to receive any treatment, they said they took that insurance and that my check up and cleaning would be 100% covered. I then agreed to receive treatment. They then said they needed to take x-rays. Again, before I consented to treatment, I asked them if this would be covered by my insurance. I asked two separate people. Again, they said it would be 100% covered. So I agreed to let them take the x-rays. As I left after treatment, I again asked if I owed anything. Again, they said it would be 100% covered by my insurance. This was in February or March of 2023. I didn't get a call until September 2023 from Columbia Square. They said that they were sending my bill to collections because I hadn't paid it. I told them that there shouldn't be a bill, that they had told me that it would be 100% covered by my insurance. They said they would check again with my insurance. I then got a call from a debt collector saying that they were trying to collect on a bill from Columbia Square. I told them that that was supposed to be covered, and that Columbia Square had told me they would cover it 100%. I then called Columbia Square Dental -- which now only has office hours two days a week. They refused to return my call. I also called the dentist himself, Dr. Salhi, who also refused to return my call even when I told him I was threatening litigation. I got one email from them saying that they wouldn't cover it, and then they continued to refuse to talk to me. DON'T USE THIS DENTIST!
I'm very fortunate to have discovered Dr Tennant and to have been able to trust her with my teeth since 2014. She is very skilled, patient, kind, intuitive and an excellent problem solver with a willingness to approach a challenge from different angles, and with the perseverance to get it resolved. She takes the time to listen and understand what I'm experiencing, and she truly cares about her patients and gives them the best care she can. She is absolutely amazing and I'm very thankful for the graciousness with which she handled my unusual case. Everyone I've met at Columbia Square Dental is very friendly, and helps me to feel at ease whenever I come there. Getting my dental care done here has been a great blessing for me.
This office used to be great when I first started going in 2021. My last couple experiences left me not wanting to return. The first being a crown replacement. They had an extremely long wait time for the crown to come in and got the wrong one twice? I didn’t think anything of it as it could have been various reasons for it to not fit. The one I have currently feels slightly too big and I often get pain around it and when I asked them about it they just told me to use mouth wash. Okay. The very last time I went, March 2023 I was getting my bottom two wisdom teeth extracted. Most of it was covered by my insurance and we paid the rest with card. I requested to not get fully put under so they prescribed me lorazepam to calm me down and they numbed me. Dr. Salhi was extremely rough and even with the numbing I could feel his hands shaking and my jaw aching from how hard he was trying to extract the tooth. I said ow but they kept going. When I went home I was not given any aftercare instructions and inevitably I developed an infection. It was almost impossible to get ahold of the office and I had to call Dr. Salhi’s personal number and he seemed rushed, didn’t want to see me at all and just prescribed antibiotics. Infection went away and healing went fine. Around September though I get a call from a woman saying that they’re sending my bill of over $300 to collections unless I pay it right now. I was confused because I have double coverage and paid any fees at the time of appointment. They said it came back and wasn’t covered by insurance. I asked them to email me a statement because that didn’t makes sense and never received one. They then asked me if I wanted to schedule my cleaning since I was overdue but said that wouldn’t be covered by insurance either and it was going to be about $200. At this point I thought I was being scammed but the call ID showed as their office. I don’t know what’s going on but Do not go to here.
In April I filled out their online form request. No response for a week so I called a couple of times with no answer, just some weird unprofessional message about maybe calling you back in 24 hours. I left a voicemail at that time. A month goes by, and I tried calling again but no one answers. So I email again. No response! I decide to give up. That’s a lot of attempts already with zero response. I’d like to say that the non response didn’t bother me because there isn’t any way they didn’t get at least one new client request or at least say they were booked out until a certain time, you know, like professionals would. I live close by so a couple weeks ago I decided to try to catch them in person. Maybe it was just a streak of bad luck. I’d really like to have my dentist be close. I walk up to their door at 3pm it’s and it’s dark. They’re closed already! It’s not a holiday or weekend. No hours posted on the door or anything. That really chapped my hide, but again, giving the benefit of the doubt because things do happen. I try again today. I see a light and someone is sitting at the desk….looking at their phone. The door is locked, as it should be if you’re downtown but she never looks up from her phone and ignores the ringing phone I can just barely hear while I’m standing there. What is happening with this place? This must have happened to others, don’t they want clients? Either they need to get better staff or the dentists just don’t care that much about the practice or quality of service.
They are so amazing!! They are fast, professional, and super affordable, on top of doing excellent work. The staff are so helpful and cool, and they really take the time to let you know what they're doing and why. I feel very lucky to have found them! Do yourself a favor and go to Columbia Square Dental y'all!
