I recently visited a Walmart location and was appalled by how unsanitary and poorly maintained it was. The floors were dirty, the aisles cluttered, and several areas looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. The restrooms were especially unpleasant, with an overall smell and appearance that made the entire visit uncomfortable. It’s disappointing to see how far the store’s standards have fallen — there seemed to be no attention to cleanliness or customer care. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone, not even for something as simple as a pack of gum. Walmart has really gone downhill, and it’s unfortunate to see such little pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. 😞

This store keeps disappointing me. Between how they have the garden center to them selling me a broken, used bed frame it’s literally disgusting. They had sewage spilled everywhere yesterday. And opening this box to see this is wild. The welding is broken and there’s dirt, tape and miscellaneous stuff stuck to the frame. I tried calling customer service to speak to a manager and they never answered. Update came to the store to see if I could get an exchange and they told me they didn’t have any in stock. (They do but it’s 4x the price I paid)

This review is for Walmart Location 5500 Grossmont Center Dr, La Mesa, CA 91942 If I could give ZERO stars, I absolutely would. I am writing this review to warn customers who need to return online purchases. I have had extremely bad experiences with a customer service staff member at this Walmart (I will call him "A", as I do not know his name). He regularly sits at the customer service desk. Based on my experiences, this person does not act with honesty or a customer-focused attitude. Instead, he appears to misuse his position and makes returns unnecessarily difficult. If you have online items to return, I strongly recommend going to another Walmart Supercenter. Do NOT come to this location. I interacted with this employee twice, and both experiences were unacceptable. First incident (December 2025): I purchased a watch online. When I tried to return it in-store, A handed me a small piece of paper stating that Walmart stores could not accept the return. I was told to return it online instead. However, when I tried to initiate the return on Walmart.com, the order was marked "Not eligible for return." This was not true originally, and I later realized that A had placed this restriction, making the return impossible through Walmart. As a result, I had to contact the third-party seller myself, ship the item back at my own expense, and wait for a refund. As of today, I still have not received any refund, even though I mailed the item back on December 29, 2025. Second incident (March 2026): I bought car fluids and oil online and picked them up at another Walmart location. My receipt clearly stated that the items were eligible for return until March 17, 2026. When I tried to return two items at this store, A immediately refused and said they were not returnable. I showed him my receipt, but he refused to even look at it, insisting that his screen showed "not eligible." I asked why returns were always so difficult at this location. He called his supervisor, who confirmed that the items were returnable, and suggested I return them at the pickup store. When I went there, the staff discovered that red text had been added to my order stating "NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN." The employees were shocked when I explained what happened. This behavior is unacceptable. If this Walmart cannot process certain returns, customers should be clearly informed, not blocked in the system. An employee should never add restrictions that make a customer’s return impossible. This is the first time in the U.S. that I have experienced such treatment at a customer service desk. It is extremely disappointing and does not reflect the Walmart I used to trust.

Its pretty good if you need groceries with a wide selection, but everything else is locked away behind security glass. If you need beauty products, wine, hair dryers, shaving products, etc good luck. You push a button to get a employee to unlock the glass door except they dont respond. We sat there for 30 minutes, I tried even calling the stores phone number and no one would answer. Luckily we finally flagged someone down. We ended up postponing the remaining shopping list we needed. We will be going somewhere that is more shopper friendly. I get they are trying to not loose money through theft, but is it possible they are loosing money from the honest customers that just want to grab what they need, pay for it, and go about their day? Very disappointed in the experience.

I needed assistance in electronics because of course everything is locked up. I asked an employee that was straightening up shelves right next to me, and she told me that she couldn't help and I'd have to stand in the electronic checkout line and wait. The employee turned around and continued straightening up the shelf... I go wait in line and I finally make it towards the front, only for the same employee who refused to help me at first, get summoned by her coworkers to help out the electronic line. She comes to the front and then ask me what I needed and used the keys she had on her belt to open the locked electronic case... like you could've helped me 10 minutes ago. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I do not feel like customer service was a priority.

Love love LOVE their mobile pickup! Order enough items and you don't even need Walmart+ (don't take that away from us Walmart!). Just make sure you let them know you're on your way 15 to 20 minutes before you actually arrive and you'll have your items in express mode as soon as you get there, granted, if it's not too busy.

I purchased a cordless vacuum at this Walmart and paid for a 2-year protection plan. After only two months of normal use, the vacuum stopped working. When I first went to Walmart, I was told to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer said they would send a replacement, but they never did. When I returned to Walmart again to resolve the issue, the staff and the manager were rude and dismissive and repeatedly said it was "not Walmart’s responsibility," instead of offering real help. Since the protection plan was purchased at Walmart, customers should not be sent back and forth without accountability. Staff and managers clearly need better customer service training, professionalism, and respect when dealing with customers, not to be rude. I hope Walmart corporate reviews this location and improves how customers are treated.
