Dr. Michael Dounel, DMD

Do not come here. Dr. Michael Dounel became upset with me when I declined to schedule my wisdom tooth extraction right away. I explained that I needed time to arrange a babysitter, but he insisted that I pay $1,350 upfront before any procedure was done. He said the payment was required to hold a spot. However, I repeatedly explained that I struggle with anxiety and needed some time to prepare. He told me I could schedule whenever I was ready, as long as the payment had already been made. He also charged me $100 for the visit despite my having insurance. Initially, he said the charge was for antibiotics and pain medication, but later stated it was for the office visit instead.

Very clean and professional environment. Dr. Dounel was accommodating and suggested an alternative treatment rather than simply go with an extraction in order to save my tooth. He went over a monthly payment plan that would work with my finances and with no interest. Prompt and efficient treatment, I was in and out in no time. I am currently pregnant, so he and his staff took necessary measures to assure my baby's and my safety. He was able to take me as a last minute walk in, and a new patient. I love, love, love Dr. Dounel. I have been to many dentists and they were quick to say you need this and that, Dr. Dounel has NEVER done that to me. He will recommend you to a specialist and offer you to go get other opinions. I appreciate that very much and would highly recommend you to go to his office. He is gentle. Been coming for years. Dr. Dounel makes sure to listen to his clients and take care of them. I've had had the worst experience with other doctors and Dr. Dounel made sure I was taken care off and made me feel at ease and pain free. Staff is very professional and pleasant as well.

I’m certain all these reviews were made by his staff or people he knows. He’s so inconsiderate and rude. He tried making me come in for an appointment, I told him I had work and he said "that’s going to be an inconvenience for me." He kept aggressively pulling my jaw during the appointment as well as making passive aggressive comments. i understand people need help during emergencies but not with him.

Dr. Dounel is so kind and accommodating! He is willing to work any hour of the day, gives you realistic options for what you need, and is professional and cleanly. I will recommend New Smile dental to everyone.
