Lil Rays

We live less than 10 minutes from Lil Ray’s and have ordered takeout from them many times without any problems until now. This time, our shrimp po’boys were soggy, greasy, and unappetizing by the time we got home (photo attached). When we called, the person we spoke with said we could bring the food back so they could look at it, but once we agreed, her tone totally changed. She now seemed to be suggesting the food was only soggy and greasy because we lived "so far away" and that they couldn’t do anything about it. We’ve ordered this meal dozens of times as takeout and never had this issue. The whole interaction came across as defensive and dismissive, which was very disappointing after being loyal customers for years.

Roast beef Po-Boy was insanely dry… half a cup of gravy could never fix that. Also my 1/2 shrimp poboy came with with 3 shrimp. Severely disappointed this restaurant has gone downhill over the years. But they have fresh bread, it’s about the only good thing here.

The only place in the area that offers a shrimp and fried green tomato po boy. So good!! The remoulade is perfect, tart/tangy, light consistency that wasn’t heavy or overwhelming. Didn’t think steak cut fries would go well but it did! They take credit card, and offer 3.5% discount with cash. Service was stellar, I’m always a bit conscious of this as I’m new to the area and haven’t always had the most pleasant or welcoming experiences but I’d totally recommend this place to both visitors and locals.

Lil Rays has been around for a while. I don't go often because seafood is pricy. I took the grands the other day. The seafood platter, shrimp and poboys were great. The onion rings have always been a treat, but something has changed in the batter.

Stopped here on the way to get lunch so that I could eat with my son at school. Imagine how disappointed I was to sit down to eat only to have one piece of fish 6 jumbo shrimp a hand full of fries and burnt hushpuppies.

Still the BEST shrimp poboy on the coast; they use the real poboy bread and not this BS oversized hotdog bun I'm seeing at some of the fancier places. Lil Rays is old school and they still get it right every time. There is nothing better than a shrimp poboy, homemade onion rings and an ice cold Barqs from the bottle at Lil Rays. We bring all out of town guests here, it's a MUST! I had to push back from the table because menopause ain't no joke and those fried shrimp stick to my mad hips so I have to wait for company to go. Do yourself a favor and sit there and eat that poboy hot and don't you dare take half of it home!!
