I've been to Sono Academy in the past and I had great services by their wonderful students. Today I decided to go in for a color service and I asked for a glaze. When I specified I wanted to blend my roots and conceal some of my greys, I was still under the impression that a glaze was going to be able to do that. I booked a glaze because it was $40 dollars so I was not looking to spend more than that. I got up to the counter and the woman working the desk told me that the total was $113. I was shocked at the price increase because I was not made aware of such. I booked a glaze. That is what I thought thought I was getting. I did not know that does not cover greys, I'm not a hairstylist how would I know? She was able to bring my total down to $95 but that was still almost $60 more than what I thought I was going to be spending. After some thought, I decided to go back inside and express my concerns, I was already nervous as This is not some thing I typically do I am a professional makeup artist and spray tan technician, and I know how important price transparency is to my clients therefore I felt the need to say something. Upon walking back in, I was greeted by the owner Thea saying to me as well as the others who were around her "oh no we're not doing this now" when she saw me come in. Her demeanor and attitude in how she spoke to me was vile and disgusting. She was trying to make me feel shame for standing up for her lack of communication during my consultation. Had she had mentioned that there would've been a price increase from what I originally booked I would've told her that that is not what I want And then she could've explained another solution to me But she did not do that. She proceeded with the service not telling me that I was going to be paying almost $70 more than what I had originally thought. I have never experienced such horrid behavior from a salon/school owner and if you are looking to get services done here make sure you ALWAYS ask for what the overall cost will be so they don't screw you over and embarrass you in front of the whole salon.

The Sono Academy make up course has a high level of professionalism in the quality of their instructors. Dina and Sarah are astounding teachers with clear, conceptual teaching methods. I have experienced and witnessed each instructor work demonstrate their unrestrained patience for their students, working with us until full comprehension of the material is reached. As well as their instructors, Sono Academy uses high quality makeup to teach the course. In the beginning of the class everyone receives a Mac makeup kit. I would recommend anyone interested in makeup to enroll in this program.

Sono is an amazing school for anyone looking to earn a certificate as a makeup artist. I had been looking to take a course for a few weeks before finding Sono Academy.Class is only 4 Sundays and you receive a complete kit. You simply can't beat that. The course description and reviews totally sold me. Our class instructor Sarah is very knowledgeable in her field and is always willing to offer any advice. Each week I left, feeling like I had really learned something new. If you are thinking of becoming certified, I would highly recommend the Makeup Artistry Program at Sono. I would be more than willing to do the commute again if I ever needed to.

I can't say enough good things about the makeup artistry course! Sarah was the most amazing instructor. She is professional and a great teacher. The small class size allows 1:1 interaction and the ability to have all of your questions answered. Not only did I learn makeup artistry A-Z, I gained CONFIDENCE in my work. I have recently completed the makeup artistry course at Sono Academy and I am amazed at the amount of knowledge I was able to obtain in such a short time. I am so happy I chose Sono Academy because the level of care and professionalism is evident in the course material, the instructors and the quality of the makeup kit. Sarah and Dina are terrific instructors who tag team important topics within the wonderful world of makeup. When I received my kit on the first day, I was completely overwhelmed. I had little to no idea on how to use any of the items inside but Sarah and Dina were so patient in their teachings. They have demonstrated such patience for their students in the sense that they will work with them on an individual basis until they are able to grasp the materials/tasks/techniques. If you are looking to take a makeup artistry course, Sono Academy is the place for you, I promise you will NOT be disappointed.
