Q is the absolut best hair stylist I’ve ever had. I’ve been coming to him for 4 years now. Before I would always have a brass tone and wasn’t able to get the nice ash tone I wanted. He worked his magic and I keep a very nice ashy tone now. He also straightens my curly hair in less than an hour. Never happened before!

Guys this is seriously the best place to get your hair done. ESPECIALLY just a wash a blow dry, I have never gotten my hair washed so so good by Shelly, there’s so many places that don’t do that. She took her time and really made me feel comfortable with her head massage techniques. LAN is amazing. I cannot express enough how talented and experienced he is in haircut and color. He knows exactly everything without you even mentioning it. Long story short GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE. I seriously wish I came sooner. 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

A Happy Accident That Gave my daughter the Best Hair ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My daughter is absolutely over the moon! Finding the right hairdresser has been a long journey for her and we ended up at this salon almost by chance. From the moment she sat down, I knew it was different. She explained what she wanted, and LAM listened so attentively. He didn't just hear her; he understood her vision perfectly. The result is even better than we could have imagined! The cut and style are flawless. Thank you so much! we have not only found our new hairdresser but also our new happy place. Highly, highly recommend!

I got my haircut at Decode in mid-December and debated leaving this review. But it’s been months of being unhappy with how my hair turned out. My haircut directives are fairly simple as of the last few years: trim and layers around face. It’s boring but works for my low maintenance habits. There are few creative liberties one can and should take with that so I am usually within range of what to expect. It was my second time getting my cut with Lam (you can see my hair after my first cut with him and after my second cut, both unstyled) and I found him very meticulous as everyone says in their reviews, which is why I came back. But this most recent experience soured me. First, it took me 30 minutes after my appointment time for it to start. I genuinely usually would not mind this because I understand things run long. I got my hair washed before I sat in the chair, and I only bring this up because perhaps not taking time to see what my natural hair looked like impacted the final result. I gave him my usual instructions, and he suggested cutting 2 inches of length at the longest point and we decided where to cut the hair around my face. I will say two inches is more than what any stylist has ever asked for a trim but I trusted him and I tend to be flexible with an inch or two of length. The haircut begins and he is as careful as I would expect. However, I was noticing he spending a lot of time with his shears that were thinning out my hair (little by little but surely around my whole head) and I had to stop him going for more by asking what he was doing. He said it was to give me more layers. I immediately said no and he stopped but it was too late. Right after he curled my hair to finish, the first thing I did was touch my hair and as expected, it felt incredibly thin. Over the last few months, I haven’t been any happier with my hair. My instinct is usually to put my hair in front, but this haircut is not really suitable for that so anytime I see myself I’m inclined to put my hair up. The layers make the body of my hair uneven and feel thin, they look choppy, and the short layers "around my face" are actually around my entire head which is not what I wanted when I said "trim." The shortest layers seen from the back now hover just below my shoulder blades which means it will be maybe two years before I recoup that full density. All in all, super disappointing with what should have been a simple cut and that my preference was ultimately not honored.

Love love LOVE!!!!! I've booked with Rex for a hair coloring 2x and haircut 3x, he NEVER disappoints. No other salon in NYC has ever treated my hair with such great care and attention to detail, this is the only place and stylist I will trust. Amazing service & results for a fair price, going here was the best decision I've ever made for my hair (:

Don’t go if you’re blonde! I went in x3 times to get it corrected but made it worse. I am now ginger having to spend $$$ to get it corrected. My hair is frazzled and ruined. My hair looks like I need to go to the hairdressers, NOT like I’ve just had a fresh set of highlights. Staff were so unhelpful and unfriendly. Don’t go!

Had an amazing experience at DeCode Salon! In terms of coloring, Q and his staff were outstanding! I have had two balayages done here and every time I always leave happy. Q really knows what he’s doing. He will be very honest with you, but at the same time open to listening what you want to achieve which I really appreciate because a lot of times hairstylists will just give you what you want when it's not really what you need. Overall a great experience, highly recommend! They are located in Manhattan, Chinatown & Flushing.
