OMG! I was stationed in Korea with the Air Force for 6 years. This food is by far... the most original as if I was eating in a restaurant in Korea. I had the spicy pork bulgogi. I had expected a small service m serving of spicy pork, but when I opened it, it was full of deliciousness! On top were two steamed mandu (meat potstickers), then a very large serving of spicy pork. I can't get over how awesome, and on-target this meal was. Along with the spicy pork and white rice was a nice, large serving of shredded salad and dressing. My drinks were two diet Cokes. I had just arrived from Florida an hour ago and had planned on a small meal that was maybe going to be spam musubi. I walked out of my hotel (Ala Moana Honolulu) and saw this food truck. This spicy pork was such a better idea! I saw the rest of their menu and I think I can get each one for each day I'm staying at the hotel...10 days. I'LL BE BACK! NOTE: This food truck is NO LONGER IN WAIKIKI! This food truck is located across from the Ala Moana Honolulu hotel and Center. They're having trouble trying to get Google maps to change the location. In any case... come get this delicious meal. I have absolutely zero regrets coming here tonight.
Wow! Love this little food truck! Our order was the spicy pork and beef bulgogi and tteokbokki. I originally wanted to order those items and the mandu but it would be too much food for my partner and I. We waited ten minutes, and then came out our FLAMIN to go boxes of food. Like it was burning my legs! (In a great way!) I opened my plate and the lovely couple added one mandu in our bulgogi boxes and I was so happy because I really wanted to try them! Everything was amazing, so fresh, authentic Korean food. The spicy bulgogi wasn’t too spicy but really well seasoned. If you like milder food, the beef bulgogi is the way to go. The tteokbokki has a bit more spicy and was so comforting (love this Korean street food snack!) the rice cakes were nice and chewy and I loved the fishcakes. Even though I had one mandu, it was seriously some good mandu! My partner and I wish we got more of them (and had more stomach space!) Best part was the lady was so sweet, and the guy was cooking up some great food. Thank you for the amazing food, hoping we’ll be back someday to have it again! If you love Korean food, and want a quick fix, go here!
It is located in the middle of the food trucks. There are no dining tables, but there are about five chairs available for seating. We ordered stir-fried spicy pork, LA galbi, and tteokbokki, and the portions were generous. If you pair the meal with a papaya salad from the neighboring Thai food truck, it tastes even better!
Ordered a creamy mushroom smashed burger. Instead i got a 2$ burger you would get from a cheap takeaway , barely any mushrooms not even creamy , literally jus a small thin beef patty you would get from paknsave w cheese , smh & judging from the photo online to what i got was really disappointing. Never again do better kai hono 💯
Lovely time with my family. Great food. Great vibes. A lovely lady working! Gave us dumplings on the house just because my sister forgot to order some before we were done!
Kai K Food truck is an incredible find! I lived in Seoul and this place brought back memories. I am staying at the Marriott and I work late. By the time I am done I don’t feel like going out. I saw a line of food trucks in the alley and figured I would give them a try. I didn’t want Korean but Kai K had the best reviews. I started with the Mandu and it was really good. Had a mild spicy-ness finish which I liked. The next day I had the Kalbi. First off, the flavor is delicious. Next, the meat is so tender. I had to inspect it closer and saw the inside was still pink! How do they maintain a pink center on such a thin cut of beef? It is served with two scoops of rice and a raw cabbage with dressing that is a nice fresh touch. I got a side of kimchi which was very good, did not seem like it was out of a jar, I think they might make it themselves. Miss Michelle told me to try the pork bulgogi, she said it was spicy. I’ve never had pork bulgogi so I gave it a try. They kept the pork tender and moist despite being a thin cut. It was a little spicy but not too much. I was very impressed. I was excited to try the cheese ramen, a staple in the alleys of Seoul after a night of drinking. I have made it at home but I could never recreate it. This cheese ramen brought a tear to my eye. It took me back 23 years to the soju carts and alleys. They got the egg just right, there was a nice spicy-ness to it and the right cheese. Such a simple, delicious meal. Beef bulgogi was next, and like everything else, it was delicious. I went back and had the kalbi and pork bulgogi again. I also got the tteckboki and it is the spiciest thing on the menu. I was very impressed. Miss Michelle takes good care of you. She packages everything with care and gives specific instructions on how to carry it so it doesn’t spill, to make sure you eat it before the noodles get soggy and what to try next time. Kai K and the Thai place next to them, are open the latest, most of the others close before I get there. I did try a hot dog one time and it was good. As I said before, they have the best ratings and despite being a small food truck, everything is made to order and well worth the wait. They are always so nice and I can’t wait to go back.
We got the beef bulgogi, the bbq chicken, and the dumplings. All the food was great (even the cabbage salad, which we wouldn’t usually eat)! Plus the location is very convenient to grab a quick bite, especially on your way to the park or if you don’t want to pay for overpriced hotel food.
