Do NOT order anything preorder from this company, you are not guaranteed to get it and they'll lie to you about it. I pre-ordered all three of the special edition Sleep Token albums back in October when they became available for pre-order. Sundowning and TPWBYT were delivered but then I got an email stating that TMBTE had been returned to sender without having ever arrived to begin with. As of the writing of this review, the tracking information still states that the carrier has yet to receive the package. I contacted Hot Topic about the issue by email. At first I got a virtual assistant that hadn't even understood the issue and just gave me the shipping information I already had. When I asked for a real person, they gave me the exact response with slightly different wording. I pressed the issue by sending a screenshot of the carrier information showing that the package had not even been received by the carrier. Finally, they said they could offer me the "one time courtesy" of re-shipping the item and gave me a number to call. When I did call, they informed me that they could not re-ship the item because it was marked as out of stock and the only thing I could do was to add it to my wishlist and hope it would be restocked. I told them I was under the impression that these were limited edition reprints and asked why they couldn't just send me the same one that was supposedly returned to them, to which they said "we don't have it yet" and issued a refund. I've reported the issue to the BBB. I've shopped at Hot Topic for the last 25 years but they've lost my business.
Quite a neat little store. It is small but packed full of goth, metal and other awesome items. Very brooding if you ask me. Nice place!
My wife and i attempted to look around this store last night as we love the store and the unique merchandise, however as soon as we arrived at 7:53pm the cashier immediately says to us as soon as we walk in the door "we close in 5 minutes." Wife and I shrugged and kept looking. A few minutes later, she again says, "we close in 3 minutes." At this point, I'm annoyed. In my years in retail, you let those who are there before closing shop, and you just don't let those in who arrive after closing. She then again says, "we close in 1 minute," to which I responded, "Don't worry, we're leaving." I'm done with this place. No wonder brick and mortar stores are closing left and right. I'd rather buy online than deal with their rude employees.
I absolutely LOVE this store, I’ve been shopping here since I was like 13 and I’ll always love going to these stores, almost every location has been wonderful ! It’s so much fun, you got every fandom you can think at your disposal, I’m shocked I haven’t made a review yet- My issue was from yesterday ,4/15/24, when I was checking out, (I have epilepsy), one of the cashiers with black hair was making many seizure jokes rather openly and sorta graphically and it made me a bit uneasy due to trauma. I’m usually fine with the jokes, just wouldn’t really expect it from somebody at work I guess? 😕

I was a customer shopping at the mall today when while checking out people started sprinting out of the mall. we ended up in lockdown in a (false alarm) active shooter situation. but the employees at the store (ALL 3) went above and beyond their duty to protect us, ensure we were all safe, with our groups of people, able to contact family, and even asked us if we had any medical problems someone needed to be aware of. i never got their names or pronouns but seriously, they were the best and deserve the world. thankyall from my whole heart.
Just had a terrible experience at this particular store (Store number 0425). There was a buy two clearance items and get two free special going on. Which is why I went into the store in the first place. So I bought two pops, a fleece throw, and pants. After looking at the receipt I noticed that I did not receive any of the items for free. When I asked why the associate (Kacy) told me that yellow tags were "clearance" and black tags were "promo". I did not see a sign anywhere explaining the difference between colored tags. So one would assume that any markdown sticker would be considered "clearance". I then said I would like to return the items. She told me I had to sign the original receipt first. So I did. She then refunded the black tagged pops and as she handed me a return receipt she highlighted the part that said "all clearance is final sale". I was not allowed to go back and pick the two free items. I also was not provided with the original receipt as she took it back. I was only given the receipt that had the two returned items on it. There were a couple ways this could have been handled differently and satisfactory. When bringing two clearance items to checkout she could have said "hey you’re getting two clearance items, did you know you can pick two more for free?" This would have led to clarification and is just good business practice to make sure customers are informed about specials offers and sales. I also could have been offered the option to go pick out my other two free items. Which would not have been ideal but would have been acceptable. Making me sign the receipt before explaining the returns made me feel, after the fact, cheated. Not being given a receipt for the other products I purchased is just bad business. So in the end I feel victim to their dishonesty and/or ignorance of good customer service. I’ve never had a bad experience at any Hot Topic before. In fact, it has always been a favorite store of mine. This was my first experience in this particular hot topic and will most definitely be my last. This whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I hope that my experience is just an isolated thing.
