In Mrs. K's personal ranking of frozen custard establishments, Rita's has consistently held the top spot, ahead of both national chains and a handful of local favorites. But today, something extraordinary happened. The custard was not just good. It was the best Rita's custard she has ever had. That is no small compliment coming from someone with such a well-established custard hierarchy. We ordered the chocolate, no toppings, in a waffle cone, which she savored slowly over the course of about 20 minutes. I was granted a tiny taste, and even that fleeting sample was enough to confirm her verdict. Between delighted murmurs of "mmm" and enthusiastic declarations of "yummy," it was clear this was a standout experience. The texture was the smoothest we have encountered, and the chocolate flavor was deeper and richer than any before. Without hesitation, we would both give it a full five stars. The shop itself is modest but welcoming. There are a couple of benches out front and a few tables inside, offering a little space to linger. Still, I imagine that on a warm summer evening, the place would be bustling with families, couples, and custard devotees all eager for their turn. If today was any indication, they are in for a real treat.

I was at the establishment next-door with my disabled individuals and decided to stop and eat lunch on the patio set of this Business before we head back home… The owner started stalking us and walking around the building, giving us nasty stairs. Then he decided to come around back and approach us to tell us that he didn’t want us sitting at his tables . We assured him that we were going to clean up and not leave a mess … We just wanted to feed the individuals and give meds before we got back on the road…He said that he didn’t care he wanted us to go… I used to always support this business when in the area but will never do that again. The owner is very rude and disrespectful and don’t have a heart for the disabled community or people in general. I hope this business never prosper … The patio Area was already nasty before we even sat down But we made it work for us

Rita's gelati taste a little different from anything I have ever had. The creamy flavor of the custard mixed with the sugary rush of the Italian ice sounds odd but is actually very enjoyable. My new favorite is the cotton candy. This location is fast and efficient. Service was friendly. The only drawback is no indoor seating. There is one small bench located outside.

Finally it's open! My daughter and I (being from NJ) are soo happy to visit Rita's during opening week. It was busy but moved quickly. Great customer service. We got Gelatis, Italian ice with your choice of flavor and custard. We loved it. Highly recommend you stop in. Thank you!

Went here on Sunday night to satisfy the something cold and sweet craving and it was perfect 🌞 I got the dragonfruit flavor with some vanilla custard on top, it was amazing! I wish there was another Rita’s in Charleston! 💯

honestly. my two year is more polite. i know there flavors are great but i ran in to use the bathroom cos my boy is being potty trained and needed to go number 2 (and i waited a few minutes to see if anyone came out from the back - no one did) anyway was coming out to apologize and ask if he’d like me to be a paying customer and before i could even say anything guy starts on about how i need to use another place. I get people take things for granted in establishments sometimes but lord i didn’t expect to be berated for trying to potty train my kid. i paid for some food and left but i wont be back. I hope this guy sees it and just adjusts his attitude. Not everyone’s bad, plus add a sign if you feel that strongly.
