I have this orange guitar pick which was misplaced the other day. It had become the only pick I ever use and I was rather distraught at having lost it. It was just the perfect thickness and flexibility. Over time it had been worn by my fingers into a slightly striated surface which made it exceedingly comfortable to hold while strumming. Fortunately after a couple of days of frantic searching, I found my treasured plectrum, which I had somehow assumed was a standard orange Dunlop. Upon close examination I was able to decipher the words ‘Mass street music’. I had acquired it on a visit to the shop 4 and a half years earlier while visiting a friend in Lawrence.

Matt transformed my 1970s Tokai partscaster Strat into something unique and tailored to my particular, weirdo approach (open C#-minor tuning w/ 0.013 gauge, SS strings). It took them a long time to get it up to spec, but I am incredibly thankful regardless that a shop like this exists with musicians/luthiers who pay impeccable attention to their work. Cannot recommend Mass Street Music highly enough!

Excellent service as always from the people here. They are very knowledgeable, genuinely act like they are glad to see me when I come in and greet me by my name, which makes me feel appreciated. As far as top of the line, new and vintage professional instruments, they have the best selection in Lawrence and, in my opinion, the entire state of Kansas.

These guys are top quality in terms of skills, craftsmanship, materials, and know how with guitar repairs/ work. As a whole, this is a great place to do business from my own experience. I actually went through a rough period of about a year financially, having worked in automotive sales in the current market. I explained to them my situation and these people had the patience to work with me, letting me pay on my shop bill when I could. They did a re-fret on my guitar, put it on the plek machine, rewired it (new humbucker, volume pot, jack). Set up was flawless. This guitar plays better than anything I’ve ever played (3 other people who’ve played it have all said the same thing). This might sound like a lengthy, rambling review, but I’m just giving credit where it is due and saying thank you to those at Mass Street Music, Matt, Mike, and staff. -George W.
