Dr. Ross Kaplan

I’d like to sincerely thank Dr. Ross Kaplan, dermatologist at Coastal Dermatology in Camarillo, for the excellent care he provided. I consulted him about a deep facial skin cancer while I was also undergoing several heart procedures, so I was very concerned about the treatment options. Dr. Kaplan carefully evaluated the situation and was able to remove the lesion with a simple in-office scrape-and-burn procedure. This allowed me to avoid more extensive surgery or radiation. The healing was surprisingly fast, and there is very little scarring. Dr. Kaplan is also an excellent communicator who takes the time to answer every question I’m truly grateful for his skill, compassion, and thoughtful care.

I was diagnosed with Stage II Malignant Melanoma in 1983. Where Blue Cross/Blue Shield was concerned, I was one of the earlier patients insured for Mohs Micrographic Surgery. I saw the very best doctors UCLA had to offer. In 2005, I relocated to Ventura County and kept hearing about this 'phenomenal dermatologist' in Camarillo. So, I took a first appointment -- and haven't looked back to Los Angeles since. After nearly two decades of keeping me alive, I have full faith and confidence in Dr. Kaplan's medical expertise and judgment (and with both parents being doctors, I'm just a little particular about my medical treatment...) The previous reviewer's 1-star review of Dr. Kaplan and his office describes an experience that is completely contrary to my experiences. The office has always been extremely organized and professional. As for Dr. Kaplan, he is an absolute pleasure of a doctor with incredible knowledge, bedside ettiquette and is one of the most qualified doctors I have ever experienced. I have never felt rushed, more the opposite, Dr. Kaplan has always been very caring, interested in myself and my family's life, and spends more time with me during our visits than almost any other doctor I have ever had. Dr. Kaplan identifed a pre-melonoma on my leg which required surgery and potentially saved me from severe desease progression. I go back to him regularly with the utmost confidence and always look forward to seeing him and the staff.

They cancelled my appointment without letting me know. I called to confirm my appointment in September and they told me they had to cancel it. When I saw doctor Kaplan in April he hardly gave me 5 minutes of his time. I drove an hour, waited over 30 minutes to be seen and I only got about 5 minutes of his time. Verry dissatisfied and will not be going back.
