My visit to N Natural was great! It was my first time back in a few years. I started my visit off with a consultation to discuss hair issues/goals with Carissa. I appreciate her advice and think it’ll help me on my hair journey! My wash with Felicia was fantastic, and the mini twists I got by Callida are so neat. I love that Callida was so friendly and easy to talk to. I also appreciated that she shared what products she used in my hair so that I could purchase them and use them at home. Overall, I had a great experience and will be back!

I came to this salon with such high hopes after seeing all the social media buzz, but I walked out feeling uneasy, grossed out, and honestly sad. From the start, I had to advocate for myself. After filling out a form with what I wanted, I was still asked three times what service I was there for. At the wash bowl, I had to ask the stylist to change her gloves because she had just washed another client’s locs without changing her gloves and I could still see his hair stuck to them. Even then, it felt like an assembly line. She would shampoo me, walk over to shampoo another client, then come back to condition me, and so on, never once washing her hands in between. Later, I watched her finish retwisting someone’s locs and immediately start washing another client’s hair without rinsing her hands. The deep conditioning was rushed and only sat on my hair for about seven minutes. I found out only because I asked that they were out of their regular product and had substituted with a Trader Joe’s conditioner. When I sat down for the blow dry before my trim, the dryer had a sticky film on it and literally fell on my neck as she tried to put me under. At that same station were rusty clips with someone else’s hair still stuck in them, and even if they were not going to be used on me, just seeing them made me feel sick after everything I had already witnessed. Even the space itself added to my discomfort. On the surface, it looked like they were trying to create a nice aesthetic, but the water damage on the ceiling, the LVP floor floating apart, and a broken picture frame hanging on the wall told a different story. It just did not feel like a place where you should be paying $230 for service. The trim itself was another red flag. I was told they do not trim for shape and that it would be done on wet hair, which is a terrible practice for anyone who wears their hair in a wash and go. The owner did try to make things right by offering to do my hair herself, but by then I had already spent the entire appointment advocating for basic hygiene, safe tools, and professional techniques. In the end, I paid $230 for average twists, but what hurt more was feeling unsafe and disappointed the entire time. I am sharing this because I wish I had known what I was walking into. If this review spares even one person from having the same experience, then at least some good will come out of it.

I had a really positive experience here! I got a flat twist style by Nyia. She was so friendly and welcoming and really did her best to achieve the style I asked her for. This was also the first time I’ve been to a salon that is so good about not using any direct heat, which I really appreciated because I have fine hair that gets heat damaged easily. I’m looking forward to going back.

Nyia and Micah were great. Excited to go back because Nyia understands my curl, and gave a great curly cut. Styling is so easy now. Steam shampoo is the way to go! Good relaxing atmosphere too!

I was very excited to gain a new hair experience in the DMV. 165 dollars for shampoo, deep condition and flat twist The only thing good about the service was the shampoo. The assigned stylist kept trying to sell me her products. Because she's more of a salesman, it took away from her paying attention to my hair. My hair was not EVER detangled or brushed at the shampoo bowl or before getting my hair styled. During my service, the stylist used gel WITHOUT asking if it was ok or if I had any skin allergies or medical issues. The lead stylist there asked her in mid use "you using gel on her hair" and the stylist lied and said "yes thats what she (me) asked". I asked to have my split ends checked if needed. I was told that the assigned stylist would look and see if they needed trimmed. The stylist NEVER looked at my hair. She didnt even comb it before starting on the style.

If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would. I found this place on instagram and thought it would be a great place to try for healthy natural hair. Little did I know I was in for a rude awakening. I booked a $135 style which should have included wash and blow dry like normal salons. Nope! She charged me an extra $25 to blow dry my hair after washing it. How in the world was she supposed to braid my hair wet? mind you I only booked for one crown braid and my bill came out to $240. I can get a full sew in for that price. on top of that my stylist was 30 minutes late and another stylist had to do my deep conditioning. the only thing my stylist did was put my hair into one braid which is falling out as I type. The place was dirty and old. apparently their shampoo belle called out of work today and that’s why another stylist had to wash my hair while I waited on the stylist who was supposed to do me hair to get to the salon. I paid this girl $240 for a crown braid. This is a ridiculously priced salon for the type of service I received and for the environment. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Oh and they take pictures of "your hair" afterwards…really all they are doing is making sure you can’t dispute the $300 charge. you will feel like you got scammed when you leave that place.
